Over warms up then alarm goes off--shuts oven down--hit cancel and oven will come on again but usually alarm goes off again. Is this the correct part or is it the oven temp sensor?
For model number mer6772bas
Hi Robert,
Thank you for your question. If the oven is not heating correctly, then the issue is likely with the oven sensor, sometimes called the oven thermostat, and you will need to check it with a multimeter. When testing the sensor with a multimeter, the sensor should be tested at room temperature and it should be unplugged from the oven. You will need to measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. Replace the oven sensor if the reading is less than 900 Ohms or more than 1200 Ohms. If the sensor is working fine, you will need to check the electronic control board, the elements, and the wiring between the parts to see what is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Is this the part that controls the broil element of the upper oven? Broil element is new, but still does not function. I opened back of range and saw that this part is broken. Thank you. Jean
For model number MER6770ACC
Hello Jean, thank you for your question. This Limit Switch for your model range is a safety device that shuts off the oven if it overheats. For the Broil Element not functioning, you may also want to consider replacing the Oven Sensor, part number PS1570174, or the Broil Element itself, part number PS2342087 for your model. Good luck with your repair!

WHERE IS THE OVEN LIMIT SWITCH LOCATED
For model number MER6772BAS
Hello Sid, thank you for the question. According to our research, the high-limit thermostat is located on the back side of the range. You have to remove the back panel of the range, and then you have access to the high-limit thermostat. We hope this information helps!
