Drive motor is hot and smells like something is burning could the motor be bad or is it the capacitor
For model number wtw5600xw0
Hi Paul,
Thank you for your question. Your capacitor might be the more likely culprit for a burning smell in your machine. I would also check the belt first as well, it is a physical part so if it is the belt that is causing the burning smell in your appliance, you should see a lot of wear on the belt. If your belt is in good shape, then it is probably your capacitor.
I hope that helps!

Trouble shooting washing machine, just stopped working, when you put in a load the lid locks and sensing light flashes then you'll hear a slight humming noise it will fill with water but not agitate then it will drain but won't spin dry. I swapped out capacitor then did a calibration, when i ran the calibration mode the lid locked and all the lights lit up and i heard same hum noise, fill with water then pumped out water but did not spin then all lights went out and lid unlocked. Wondering if the psc motor is def and if so what part # would i need to order. Thanks steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your question. If your washer is not agitating and the washer will drain but not spin, the part that fixes the issue most of the time is the lid switch. Before removing and testing the lid switch with a multimeter for continuity, unplug the washer from the electrical outlet. Before removing it, verify that it is being activated when the lid is closed. If it is, remove the switch in order to test it. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting, touch the probes to the terminals, and press and hold the switch button down. The multimeter should show a reading zero or nearly zero. If your test produces different results, you will need a replacement lid switch. If the lid switch is fine, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will also need to check the belt, the shift actuator, the drive pulley and the lid latch strike. You will find the information on how to test these parts under Free Repair Help and Instant Repairman on our website. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Washer will no t start and kicks out of sensing/lid lock mode and struggles to turn drum and motor overheats
For model number 11021302012
Hi Richard, thank you for reaching out. Based on our understanding of the issue, the issue is most probably related to the lid latch assembly, part number PS3497627, which may be malfunctioning. You also need to check the drive belt, which may be tight causing the motor not to rotate, or there might be something stuck inside it. We hope this sorts out your problem!

My unit was at first not working. It would attempt to start, then immediately throw a lid lock flash type error. So, i replaced the shift actuator with the understanding it was the likely culprit. Unfortunately, now that i have that in, now i get a motor hum with no spin. I tried physically spinning the motor in hopes that it would catch and start pulling on its own knowing that some motor capacitors are only for the start operation of the motor. Unfortunately, that was to no avail... i was hoping you guys might know my more likely culprit.

Hello Josh, thank you for your question. It sounds like it may be an issue with the lid lock. Does the unit fill with water but not proceed through to the agitate cycle? If so the lid lock may be the issue. We would recommend testing/replacing the lid lock first. If that part is tested or replaced and is not the issue, the other part we would recommend testing is the capacitor PartSelect Number: PS11703494. I hope this helps!

Our Maytag washer (ser. # c1283 0299) has started making an extremely loud noise during (what I think is) the last cycle of the wash. It sounds like a "bearing" about to go. What do you guys think? What part should I order? Many Thanks, Ed.

My top load he washing washing machine is giving me a code of f1 e2 which says i should check the motor. The machine will work at times and not at times. Is this typical for a motor that is going? Could it be the capicator?
For model number WTW4950XW0
Hello Lucas, thank you for your question. Yes, that is normal for a motor to start sometimes and other times not. However, we would recommend checking the wiring from the motor to control board as a loose wire connector or wire harness can cause this issue as well. I hope this helps!
