After loading, lid locks, tub gives a jerk,(like its trying to sense the load) then nothing but a humming sound. I have to unplug washer to stop the humming. It sounds kinda like a bad capacitor trying to start a motor to me. Eveyrthing else seems normal, lights on console, pause button etc. I think i had a slight odor of something getting hot also. What do you think?

Hi Bruce,
Thank you for your inquiry. There are a few parts you will have to check to see which one is causing the issue. The part that fixes the issue the majority of the time is the clutch assembly, but you will also have to check the drive belt, the lid bumper, the shield, the washer, the suspension and the shift actuator. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Noisy during spin is there a bearing in the motor that would cause the loud noise.
For model number MVWC416FW0
Hi Gord, thank you for your inquiry. Based on our understanding, the issue is with the gear case, part number PS16220910. The gear case drives the agitator and spins the basket in the washer. We would recommend checking the gear case to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!

My washer fills, agitates, but when it goes to the rinse cycle and spin it makes a load whirling noise stops and tries again. Then the lock light starts blinking. What is causing this loud whirling noise. The belt is fine, the clutch assembly is working. Any ideas?
For model number MVWP475EW0
Hi Lisa, thank you for reaching out. As the belt and clutch assembly are fine, we would suggest checking the transmission, part number PS16220910. It drives the agitator and spins the basket in the washer. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!
