The repair was very simple. I removed the broken grille and replaced it with the new one using only a screw driver . The procedure took less than five min. I was very pleased with the price of the new grille, which was less than the you know who, and how fast it took the part to reach my home. You get an a+ from me.

The bottom latch of the latch/spring assembly had broken off
8 of 13 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Charlotte from Leawood, KS
  • Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
First I removed the inside of the door using a putty knife and loosening the edges. I removed the old latch by- (1) lifting up and sliding both the top and the bottom out of the door (2) pulling out the bottom part and (3) using a small plastic fork to push the spring off of the top part (paying close attention to how it was already sit ting in the microwave). It required a little twisting (not much) and it came out.

I put the new spring on the new piece on the hook part. Then I put the new spring on the oven (where the old spring had been). I stretched the latch up and put the top slot back in and then with a little (very little) pressure I popped the bottom back in.

Over the stove microwave installed in top cabinet row.
1. Unplug device.
2. Two people to remove from wall/cabinet (remove two, large, top mounting screws and rotate entire microwave down and off the wall mount). Should be some wood spacers between top of device and bottom of cabinet.
3. Remove screws from sheet metal cover .
4. Remove one screw holding blowers in place and rotate out of the way, in order to gain access to 2 of 5 screws that hold the magnetron in place.
5. Unplug magnetron and remove the 5 screws.
6. Drop in new magnetron and re-assemble microwave in reverse order (steps 5-3).
7. Two people restore micro to wall/cabinet. Replace wood spacers, re-install two, large mounting screws (finger-tight). Test device. Secure the two large screws.

Microwave went totaly blank - No power

  • Mark from Bushwood, MD
  • A Bit Difficult
  • 1- 2 hours
  • Pliers, Screw drivers, Wrench set
Disassembled the front cover, found slow blow fuses, then replaced with microwave fuses 250V-20Amp. Utilized a few fuses to pin point the problem, Microwave functions all worked except the express feature, made an assumption after using a tester that it was the high voltage capacitor and the diode that attaches. Replaced both, plugged in and tested. Worked! reinstalled the unit. Sucessfull for the past month.

Opened door to get food put more food in closed door it wouldnt work

Everything worked on the display light inside worked but when you closed the door and set time it would start counting down but not heating nor would the turntable turn. Started reading troubleshooting chart and first thing I did was removed the cover and checked door switches and found primary door switch wasn't working so I ordered a ne w one installed it and it worked. Anyone doing this has to be very careful because of the stored energy in the capacitor is strong enough to kill.
My micro is only 2 years old so I was hoping it wasn't anything major.

Handle broke off

Had to remove the interior cover of the door to access the handle screws. Remove these screws and insert the new handle. This is a stovetop model so between the constant pushing and pulling on the handle together with the heat from the stove, the handle breaks. This is the second time I've had to replace it in 5 years...but again, it's an easy inexpensive fix.

Handle Broke off microwave

  • Dara from Tampa, FL

First I removed the vent on top. 2 screws had to be removed. Once plastic vent was removed I could lift door off. I then placed the door flat on counter top to get to backside of door. With 2 flat screwdrivers I pried apart the Door choke cover carefully as to not break the tabs. Its almost impossible not to break them. Thats why I orde red the replacement part. Good thing. I only broke 1. I could have reused it. However I chose to use the new one. Since handle in incorporated in the door, you have to take the door apart. I purchased the Door choke cover as well as a handle. After you remove the choke cover, remove the 6 or 7 small screws around the inner frame next. Now you can get to the door handle screws. Since the door handle broke off, you need to use needle nose pliers to hold the broken plastic on the outside of the door while unscrewing the inside screw that holds the handle. Once removed. replace the handle. Then carefully put it back the same way you took it apart. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes. Im a Female and thrilled I didn't have to call a repairman and get charged 200+
