JCD2389GES Jenn-Air Refrigerator - Instructions

It was simple and the fridge looks brand new.

The Ice maker unit had to be removed and the shaft had to also be removed, which required dis-assembling the motor drive. The thickness of the shaft and the bearing fill cup prevents it from simply pushing it in place. Other than that I have Ice.

Removed all 50 screws and replaced the seal. The door still comes open a tad but now it seals all the way. This was my first and last Maytag.

This was the easiest project of the Holidays. Literally saw the part was broken, went on-line and ordered the part and in a few days it arived at my door. Removed a few screws, unplugged the electrical connector and transfered the motor to the new part.

Saved me a few hundred dollars the repairman would have charged!

Followed the directions included with the parts, which were exact and well illustrated. If you are comfortable working around circuit boards and electrical connectors (with the power OFF, please!), then you can do this repair. Why electronics on this repair? Because you have to unplug a board to get to the parts, and disconnect the connectors to the solenoid. But again, the directions were fabulous, and I'm almost looking forward to needing to use PartSelect again. Almost.

Only had to remove 2 screws and slide the fan cover panel down and out, then lift out the coil cover panel. Then used a space heater to thaw the coils (block of ice) so that I could get to the defrost heating element (OK, so I was in a hurry. Could have just unplugged for a day an let it thaw on its own). Defrost heating element has just one connector (snaps in place), one thermo-switch (snaps onto coil) and one supporting retainer clip to disconnect. Literally under a minute at this point to remove the old one and replace it with the new one. I recommend two retainer clips to hold the new element in place, since the old element had sagged a lot with only one clip and that could have contributed to its demise. Reinstall the two panels, secure with the two screws, plug it back in, done deal. Works like new again.
I was very impressed with these parts - they were exact and obviously factory replacements. It doesn't get any easier than this.

First I removed the top hinge cover plate. Then removed the three screws in the top hinge. I lifted the door off the lower hinge and laid the door on the kitchen counter. I removed the one screw holding the natural door closer part from the bottom of the door and installed the new part with the same screw. I then replaced the lower hinge pin with the new one. It just sets in place. I then repositioned the door and reinstalled the top hinge. the whole job took about 15 minutes after the refrig door had been emptied. The door works like new.

Removed shelf, removed 2 screws, pulled off face plate. Removed electrical connection to circuit board. Removed 3 screws holding part in place and pulled forward. Replaced door flap easily. Hardest part was getting dispenser mechanism back in place with the water tube routed through the right spot.

Used the flat head screw driver for leveage to pop the door off. Replaced the chill door by placing at an angle and snapping it into place. Works perfectly!

Simply cut the water tube on both sides of connector and push in the new one.

Removed the 3 screws that hold the ice maker in place and remove the cover and level wire. Put the cover and wire on new part and install the 3 screws. Had ice within 1 hour. A very easy job for the do it yourselfer. Suspect the heat coil that melts the cubes was not working in the old unit and cubes stayed in the tray.

Removed broken dairy door (no screws or any tools were used) and replaced with new one purchased from partselect. It took me less than a minute to do :) thanks!

No tool required! Pulled out tray, emptied ice into large bowl for reuse. Pushed in and pulled from inside the coil springed auger until could get old plastic ring off and put new one on. Useing care not to apply too much pressure to ice dispensing end so as not to break housing. Have to turn auger assembly at an angle to compress enough and get old ring off. Needs a little physical strenth & care not to force plastic housing to breaking point. Worked great reused saved ice. Took less than 10 minutes

Maytag wide by side refrigerators tend to eat these parts about once a year, and this is my third assy so the replacement went very fast. When we used the Maytag warranty they replaced this part about 6 times, after they exchanged the refrigerator. No major disassembly is required, drop the plastic after removing a few screws, plug in the assy, and you are good to go, no more frozen food in the refer. The only tricky part is getting the clips to release so you can slide the plastic cover forward, but after a while they break off and it is easier to remove.
