GFMS350GL0WW General Electric Dryer - Instructions

Followed the video which made it real easy.

I followed the provided video precisely. Made the job quite easy. My only problem is I'm 6'2", 275 lbs. with bad knees. Can't go at it exactly as shown in the video because I can't squat down in front of the dryer without pain. I do recommend wearing gloves and/or long sleeve shirt. I cut up my arms a bit, but that could have been easily avoided.

Followed the online demonstration on the website when i ordered the part. The video was outstanding and easy to follow. I now have the confidence to make other minor appliance repairs.

Dryer would turn on when you pushed the "on" button, but as soon as you let go, it would turn off. Found the plastic door switch cracked (from slamming door closed). Unplugged the dryer. Unscrewed the two screws inside the top of the door to unfasten the top panel. Took the top panel off. Then unscrewed the two screws on the side to un ... Read more latch the front panel. Used plyers to take the 3 wires off the switch and slid the switch through the front of the door. Juat remember where the wires go. Then inserted new switch and connected the wires. Vacuumed out the dryer and reassembled. It took about 20 minutes and was easy! If I can do it, you can!!!

remove front and top cannover's from dryer.remove plastic inside bearing housing and plastic bearing slides replace worn out bearing slides with new ones. needed 4 bearings direction suggested only two....

Faulty Door switch. Dryer would heat up so I knew it wasn't thermostat or element related.

After some research on the internet, I deduced the squeaking sound in our dryer was due to defective drum glides. I ordered a set of four of the white type, knowing only our model requires four glides, but not knowing there are two types for two locations. After disassembling the dryer I realized I needed more parts - two green slides a ... Read more nd a new top bearing assembly. The dryer drum had eaten thru glides and into the plastic assembly. That was the reason for the squeaking noise - metal sliding against hard plastic. I ordered the additional parts directly from the manufacturer to ensure I got it right. After all the parts arrived, the repair was easy and took less than 30 minutes. I actually had my 17 year-old daughter do the work to teach her some skills. I just instructed her and stepped in on assembling the top that was just a bit tricky to put back on. Problem fixed.

The clothes would get caught where the drum slide should be (it was almost totally worn down) and would leave black marks. I watched Parts Select youtube video. Bought the parts needed from Parts Select. They arrived within a couple of days. I replaced the 2 drum slides and no more getting caught. Took about 20 minutes.

Took off the top cover then took off the front panel and installed the new coils on gas valve.

Unscrewed the top lid screws located in door opening.Removed lid.Unscrewed the front cover screws located at top corners of cover, underneath where the top lid was.Pulled out drum,removing belt at same time.Removed the rear bearing unit,installed new one.Really easy.Took front bearing off front cover,it just snaps on.Installed new bearing ... Read more ,with 4 new slides.Reassembled machine,replacing old belt at the same time.Done.It really is that easy.Spent more time cleaning lint out of dryer interior than actual mechanical work,I think.

I used these two videos to help me clean the inside of the machine, then change the drive belt.

Googled possible problem where noise was coming from. Went to Parts Select web site. Ordered felt and drum bracket. Removed screws behind control knobs and removed top of dryer. Removed two screws on front inside dryer (left/right side) this allowed me to remove front panel of dryer. Unattached wires. Drum bracket is located above door op ... Read more ening...pretty much snaps out, felt piece is located on bottom bracket. Felt piece was replaced and new top bracket replaced. Reattach wires, lift drum slightly to fit doo iInto place. Dryer still made noise. Noticed I did not have any drum slides! Drum slides slide into top of front bracket at 10/2 o'clock position and 11/1o'clock. Easy and very inexpensive dryer repair!! My husband was very impressed that I could take dryer apart and fix!!!

Unscrew the top panel parts three screws. Then another three or six screws to get to the dryer front which needs only to lift straight up about two inches. Pull back slightly and replace the teflon slides. To replace the slides they lay on a tiny plastic pin and slightly bend into the slot to hold them in place. Reseat the dryer drum. Rev ... From the time you start hearing the dryer squeak, BE CERTAIN to replace these within a week or two (depending on usage.)Otherwise, you may wear out the housing where the teflon would rest. If that happens, you will be out more money to replace the housing and a lot more time to install. Been there and done that. Trust me.

Studied the symptoms online. Disassembled the unit and found the drum slides worn out. Ordered them and a new belt. Installation videos on Parts select web site were helpful. The dryer runs quiet now. I need a front bearing unit, but the slides are working ok for right now.
