79571099111 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

This repair is pretty straight forward. Just remove the 3 screws that hold the ice maker and bin assembly in, unplug the wire harness connector, then remove it from the refrigerator door. Re-assemble the new ice maker in reverse order and you are all set. I think part of the issue I was having was due to mineral buildup in the tray as well so it had a hard time cracking and removing the ice. Not sure why it was overfilling, maybe the sensor was broken or had buildup on it as well. This solved all the problems I was seeing and now it makes great ice that doesn't stick together and form a bridge in the bin.

I took a very thin bladed screwdriver and took the old part out -carefully.
The new part fit in quite easily.

Replace with new switch. this is the third switch i have replaced in 10 years. the only part, besides a light bulb, that has gone bad. obviously this is a problem with this model for Kenmore, or just poor switch design.

Remove 2 screws swing light down a little bit and pull it to front unplug wires . The hard part of job was finding new replacement light, Partselect.com was only sight I could find that had new replacement number and had the light . Other sites including LG site would only tell me the part number on old lights was discontinued 2 of sites ... Read more said try used appliance dealers

Swapped old one with new one. New one had extra plug not needed.

Unable to complete repair due to lack of response to emailed question concerning another spring. No picture of spring in question on website making it impossible to be sure of comparability without clarification. Unable to call currently due to no in person support. Just stuck now without an answer. Frustrating to say the least.

I actually didn't use what I got. Because there was all kinds of tubing coiled up in the door. We just fed the exsess all the way through the Fridge,and Bingo! It was done.

The past I ordered was broken upon delivery. I asked for a replacement and was refunded the charge. Tried to contact you but "due to covid" you aren't taking calls. Net result: I ordered the part from another source, got it, installed easily. Won't use you again.

Unscrew two Phillip screws on center hing , push frt plate down and replace.

1. Remove all food from the shelf and take out the crisper drawers.
2. Remove the glass and take out the crisper frame.
3. Take the screws out of the frame that are holding the cover frame in place and remove the old cover frame..
4. Install the new cover and replace screws.
5. Re- install the drawers and glass.

1. Unplug the refrigerator (to avoid shock) 2. With one screwdriver pry open the switch on the side facing the door to a gap of about 1/8 inch 3. The 2 minute or so video was not exactly matching the model that we had but the instructions were very good and important. The switch was a little difficult to get out from the side of the refrigerator.

I have moderate to good mechanical skills, but getting the old switch out was a sizeable challenge. Since this switch suffered some damage during extraction, I was lucky to have ordered a new one to replace it. Reinstall took approximately 90 seconds. PartSelect saved me an expensive service call.
