Water valve was leaking by and overfilling icemaker tray
Turned off the water supply valve to the refrigerator. Removed the rear access panel (6 screws) and the one screw mounting the water valve. Slid the water valve out and disconnected the two electrical plugs and two outlet tubes (slip/lock fit) and the inlet supply (ferrel nut). Connected the three tubes to the new valve, the two power plugs, slid valve back in place and reinstalled the mounting screw. Turned on the water supply valve back on and checked for leaks - none. Reinstalled the rear access panel and tightened all screws. Checked the icemaker and cleaned the input tube and tray, ensured all were properly mounted and aligned. Restarted icemaker and and checked the operation periodically over the next day. All worked properly.

In-door water dispenser not working
Shut down water and electric to frig. Removed rear cover to access water valve (6 screws). Pulled off electric connectors from valve, removed water supply line (1/2" open end wrench), removed screw holding water valve to frig. bracket. Installed new valve, reverse procedure. Simple

Water leak
I shut off the water at the shut off valve when I discovered the leak. I started checking on the web for a part and I found PartSelect.com and I couldnt believe there price!! I had checked with a local dealer and it was several dollars cheaper here.Back to the repair i remove the vent cover on the back of the unit about 8 screws and then there was on screw holding the water valve and three water lines to lines use the puch in method and one is screwed on , i simply remove those and reinstalled the new valve with the coresponding lines. in a few minutes i had ice and water out the door good as new!! I also took the time to install a new five yr water filter!! actually this water valve is much quieter than the origianl I am well pleased with PartSelect I will do bussiness with them again!! Water Overflowing Ice Tray And Freezing Entire Mechanism Into Solid Block Of Ice
Shut off water supply line to refrigerator, place towel or rag under corner of refrigerator where unit is located (to catch spillage when lines are disconnected). Remove back cover with 1/4" nut driver /loosen inlet line compression nut while unit is still attached(easier to loosen now than when unit is floating around loose)/remove unit from fridge then disconnect line and wires. Reverse process to install. Water lines going to water dispenser&icemaker are marked/wire connections are idiot proof. Check for leaks before pushing fridge back to wall. Thats not idiot proof!

ice maker would not make ice
ice makes would not make ice. first i filled ice tray with water. the ice maker did make ice then, but did not refill with water. So replaced water inlet valve. workes great!!

water on the floor. leaking from valve body
lower left of back of fridge. remove cardboard. remove bolt. unplug electrical connectors. remove water inlet line with wrench. cut water outlet lines as close to valve as possible. slide outlet lines into new valve in same holes until they stop. they are secure. attach inlet water line. plug electrical connectors back in. bolt it back to fridge.

Water was dripping from the water valve in the door.
I pulled the refrigerator out so I could get behind it. Then I turned off the water at the tubing valve near the floor and pulled the electrical plug. Next I removed the metal panel on the back at the bottom. The water tubing to the valved helped to locate that valve that need to be replaced. I disconnected the electric wiring to the tandom water valves (there are two valves in one body, one for the water in the door and the other for the ice maker). There is only one water tube(copper) connected to the valve inlet and two outlet plastic tubes, one for the water and the other for the ice maker. I used a wrench on the inlet tubing and just cut the plastic outlet tubes with a knife. I then removed one screw holding the valve bracket to the referigerator flange and removed the valve. The installion was in reverse order with the valve bracket being attached with one screw and then connecting the copper inlet tibing with a wrench. The two outlet plastic tubes just push in to place in the valve bodies, since one is larger than the other, they can't be reversed. Once this is done, connect the electric wiring to the two valve sections, they are not be switched either. then install the rear metal pannel and plug in the electrical cord and roll the refrigerator back in place and try out the water in the door to see if it leaks or not. It will start making ice when the ice ben gets low enough. (One more thing, it might take a little longer to perform this task if your wife has to clean behind the referigerator while it is convenient.)

water valve would stay open slightly all the time causing the water in the nozzle to the ice maker to freeze and water to backup and drip at the rear of the frig. until i turned the water off
Unplugged the unit, took the back lower panel off, disconnected the feed water line (water was off at this time) undid the connections to the water valve, removed the water valve, installed the new valve, the water line, turned on the water, tested for leaks, no leaks, reinstalled the rear panel and plugged the unit back in, about 15 min later ice was making.

Fridge was leaking
Removed the one screw that holds the valve in place. I then disconnected the control plugs from the valve..Cut the two hoses out of the old valve, slid them into the new valve, plugged in the electrical connections and put it back together. It was that simple. One of the easiest parts is getting parts from Partselect.com. This is my 3rd transaction with this company and I couldn't be more pleased.

The water dispenser is not working, but the ice machine works and it dispenses ice, just no water. Everything else works with the fridge. Thoughts?

Hi Daniel,
Thank you for the question. The water valve has two side, one for the dispenser and one for the ice maker. It is common that only one side will become defective. Sounds like you need to replace the water inlet valve if the dispenser is not getting water.

Hello, i have a GE gss25jerfww refrigerator and it's leaking just past this part (ps966952) when i use get water from of the door dispenser. I was wondering what size water line does this part accommodate. I've identified cracks in the line, but i don't know what size it is. I plan on using a union connector to remove/replace the cracked section, but i don't know what size the water line is. Should i get 1/4" or 5/16" water line to hook up to this inlet valve? Hello Bob, thank you for your question. We would recommend testing the limit switch in the dispenser area which is Part #: PS8259956. The dispenser switch is what tells your refrigerator that it is ok to dispense ice or water. If your refrigerator is not dispensing ice or water, you may have a faulty or damaged switch. Hello Mark, thank you for your question. If you can't remember replacing your water filter, it's probably time to change it. These filters can get clogged over time causing the water flow to be disrupted and thus, preventing the water dispenser from functioning properly. Find the water dispenser line and unscrew the screws holding it in place. Then hold the water button at the front of your fridge down to see if any water comes through. If it does, it's likely there was an air clog in the line which should now be removed. We hope this helps.

I have a GE. Frig that will not dispense water from the front door. I have now replaced the micro switch inside and also the water solenoid valve in the back. I get ice from the front panel but no water. Can you tell me what i should try now because i'm out of ideas! Thanks, bill j.

I bought your water valve for the back of the frig and instaled it. I now know i am getting water to the union connector in the front of the frig. So, i think i have a frozen water line going up the side of the frig. And into the water dispenser area. I put a hair dryer on the line and i do not get any warm air coming out where the water should be. So. What is the best way to thaw this line and reservoir area out so the line is clesr?
