Product Description

Light Bulb - 40W Specifications

This an authentic OEM 40-Watt replacement light bulb, used in a number of household appliances. It is specially designed to withstand extreme temperatures, which is why these replacement bulbs are most often used to light the inside of refrigerators and ranges. It features a standard socket base, which means you simply unscrew the burnt-out bulb and screw in the replacement. Depending on the appliance you may require a screwdriver or nut driver to access the light bulb. We recommend you wear work gloves while handling this replacement part. It is constructed of glass and metal and is sold individually. Depending on the appliance and location of the bulb within it, you may want to consider disconnecting power and using a flashlight for easier access to unscrewing and re-screwing in your bulb during this repair.

bottom dishwasher rack kept getting hung up in dishwasher. Oven light burned out, one oven rack missing at time of home purchase.
It was a "snap" to repair diswasher wheels(snapped off the old and replaced witht the new ones) and bumpers(heated them in hot water first so as not to break them before snapping them into place)!

Oven rack simply needed to be placed into the oven.

Hardest part of this project was replacing the light bulb. Removed two screws that held glass lens/metal frame in place. Twisted bulb left to remove it. Glass bulb released itself from the metal base instead of coming out as one piece, so I had to disconnect the power source, then get plastic handeled pliers to remove the metal base that was still inside the socket. Once that was removed, the new bulb was placed into the socket, power was reinstated and "wa-lah!" there was light in the oven again! Hooray!

Oven (not broiler) element burned out, no oven heat
Inside the oven, I removed one Phillips screw on each side where the element mounts to the back oven wall. Then disconnected the wire on each side using pliers. Unscrewed glass lens, unscrewed light bulb. Replaced all pieces in reverse order. Took less than 10 minutes.

Refrigerator door weatherstripping torn
Removed all screws on the door that retained weatherstripping, removed weatherstripping and inside of door. Inserted new weatherstripping, lined up inside of door and loosely re-installed screws. After minor alignment adjusting, went back and tightened all screws. Replacement part was a perfect fit.

The oven light has been broken forever-I turned on the oven and the element started flaming.
My husband replaced the bake element in moments. We couldn't get the broken light out of the socket because we couldn't locate our needle nose pliers. After a few days I finally got tired waiting and found a small pair of pliers in the house and got the remains of the bulb out and screwed it in, and plugged it in and we're in business!
Never wait for a man to do what you can do yourself!
I was so pleased that ordering the parts on-line was so easy and I didn't have an expensive repair bill to pay!

The door was crocked and wouldn't shut properly
Everything was easy. I read one of your other reviews and it gave me the confidence to try it myself. First i toke off the cap at the top of the door then the three screws. I lifted the door off so i could be sure the cam was my only problem then put the door back on. That took 5 mins. Then I got on the computer and ordered the parts i needed. Two days later the parts arrived and and i took the door off again. Then put the new cam on, applied a litle vasiline, put the door back on and forgot that i ever had a problem. Thanks for the help. Gas oven stove temperature 125 - 100 degrees below normal
My Hotpoint gas stove was not operating at normal temperature. This was operating in a basic range of 125 - 100 degrees below normal. After going through numerous troubleshooting posts, I came to the conclusion the sensor was my first place to check. I did not want to drop $100 for a sensor if I did not need to, therefore, I decided that I needed to know how many ohms the sensor registered in my stove. The sensor need to be 1100 ohms and after using my digital multi-meter,( Analog meter would do for this job as well) sure enough the sensor did register 1100 ohms. I then started troubleshooting other components such as igniter, gas values, etc... All resulting in everything testing out good. That is what really puzzled me. Other posts of people having similar symptoms as my oven always came back to the sensor as the problem. Then I noticed that the cleaning temperature of the sensor needed to be 2600 ohms or somewhere in that range. Therefore, I heated up the oven and tested the temperature of the heated sensor and my sensor registered 1650 ohms. I concluded that the sensor tested good at room temperature, however when heated up, it was not registering correctly. I took a chance and purchased the senor, installed the sensor, which was quite easy and only reqired removing a few screws inside the stove, removal of back panel, and unconnecting the wire attachments, and the oven now operates as new, and just in time for Thanksgiving. The really great thing was that I was a hero in the eyes of my wife this Thanksgiving.

The light bulb was burned out and the Lens Cover was damaged.
The lens cover was easy to replace, but the bulb could not be extracted from the hole where the lens cover was (although it was indicated on the Internet that we could). We needed to get inside the dryer, but did not know how. I checked out a book from the library which told how to open the top dryer panel, but that way did not work. After a little more searching on the Internet, I was able to find a website that had FREE appliance repair manuals: http://www.appliancerepair.net/clothes-dryer-repair-5.html and that worked. It told us how to remove the FRONT panel. After removing the FRONT panel, not the TOP, I was able to replace the bulb easily. I was pleased to have been able to do this without calling a technician.

Light in the clock started going dim and eventually went dark
I followed the great directions posted by others on the PartSelect website for Part No. PS2078472. This was really easy! Another customer has posted a GREAT suggestion of pulling the top oven shelf out about a foot and using it to lay the control panel faceplate assembl on after its unscrewed and lifted off its support. I used (and suggest others use) a soft cloth to put under the control panel before I laid it on the extended top oven shelf to avoid any scratching. I took great comfort from the prior 9-28-07 posting by customer Cheryl from Mesa, AZ, in which she said that she was a "63 yr. old woman" and that the repair was "very easy" for her -- Let me add that it was also very easy for a slightly younger, but mechanically challenged man! PartSelect got my part right out to me (with a couple of replacement bulbs for the interior oven light, since my oven bulb had also just burned out). Everything was just as represented and I felt I got good value for the money. It's a pleasure to do business with PartSelect! Thanks also for making me a hero with my wife -- now she thinks I can fix things!

The light went out in my oven and there’s some type of cover over it and I can’t get to it. What do I do?
PartSelect logo
Hi Jamie, you should be able to unscrew the cover on the bulb, which will allow you to remove the bulb and replace it. The cover is there to protect the bulb, but should be easily removed. Best of luck with this repair.

I tried to use a bulb that was 40 watt and had the same size and shape i purchased from a big box store. It burned out almost immediately. I noted that the bulb had a 115v rating. The bulb that was originally burnt out had a 130v rating. Is this the problem. What is the rating on your replacement bulb.
For model number BX22A2L
PartSelect logo
Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the manufacturer has not given us that information. You may need to use a bulb that is specifically an appliance light bulb. You would be unable to use just a regular light bulb. You could also purchase this bulb and it would work for your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

The light in my oven is being finicky and Ive been replacing it often. I believe it is the right one as I checked at the stores when buying it and online. Is there something I should be checking on my oven that could indicate why my bulbs aren’t lasting?
PartSelect logo
Hello Sheldon, if there is not an issue with the voltage, the next thing to check for would be a loose connection at the socket. Also, when installing the new bulb make sure that it is tight to the socket. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

The light in the freezer went out but we can't find where the bulb is.
For model number KFCS22EVMS3
PartSelect logo
Hi Gail, Thank you for your question. If you look at the Freezer Liner Parts diagram underneath your model information on our website, the light is part number 9. It looks like it is on the roof of your freezer cabinet and it is covered by part number 10, the housing. Generally there is one or two screws that you remove and then you should be able to pop off that housing from the roof. Good luck with your repair.

How do you remove a broken light bulb?
For model number WSF26C2EXY02

Hi Jose, Thank you for your question. This bulb is in a few different places. It looks like you would just unscrew it from the sockets. There may be a cover in front of the bulb, you would just have to pop that off to get to the bulb. Good luck with your repair.
