Product Description
Refrigerator Water Filter Specifications
This is a single OEM water filter used in refrigerators to remove impurities and particles from water that goes through the water and ice dispenser. It is used for reducing cysts, turbidity, lead, mercury, herbicides, and more. If your icemaker is not making ice, not dispensing ice, dispenses too little ice, or there is leakage and the fridge is making loud noises, replacing the water filter may be the solution. This filter is located in the front, top right of side-by-side refrigerators. You will know it is time for a new filter when the light on the freezer door dispenser lights up red, or after 6 months (200 gallons) of use. No tools are required for this easy repair. First, press the release button to pull out the old water filter and push and lock in the new water filter. Run water through the dispenser for about 3 minutes to prime the filter for use. Dispose of the water or use it to water plants. Press the indicator for 3-10 seconds to reset after this repair is complete. This carbon-based filter measures 6 x 3 x 7 Inches and is white plastic. Note: You may also need to order the water filter base to make the water filter fit properly. Please use your model number to locate the filter base.

Refrigerator water / ice filter
Quick delivery and really easy to install. The old filter was transparent so you could see and monitor what was happening and when it needed to be changed. The new filter is not transparent so I’ll have to guess when to change it. Transparency is always best. Also, my water is no longer cold with the new filter. I put the old filter back in and the water was cold. Guess I’ll have to use the ice. Not the same !!!

Replaced door shelve
We live in rural SW Missouri, so I am very dependent on the internet. I found PartSelect on a Google search and simply inputted the modle number and serial number for the refrigerator and there it was. I was able to order the right part the first time and repair the refrigerator myself! No serviceman needed here!

easily found the part I was looking for
The website was easy to navigate. Loved the schematic drawings of the appliance, it made it easy to find the part you are looking for without the guesswork (part names are sometimes not intuitive). My parts arrived promptly, the price was competitive, everything fit beautifly as expected. Would recommend this merchant, will shop there again. THANKS !

Ice-Maker and Water Dispenser not working.
First I disconnected the power cord, then removed the screws that held the bracket that holds the base for the water-filer in place. I then disconnected the water lines(intake and outflow). Next I removed the screws that held the water-filter's base in place. I then disconnected the release lock mechanism for the filter and finally removed the water-filter base. I did the reverse to install the new water-filter base. Previously I had tested the intake water line and noticed the water was flowing with enough pressure upto the water-filter's base but no water was exiting thru the outflow line, which leads to the Ice-Maker and Dispenser. I had tried changing the filter but that didn't solve the problem it was then I had realized that the Base was the problem. The actual problem was the spring-loaded valves for both the intake and outflow lines, which had a plastic prong that protrudes out of the base that is triggered by the filter when installed. The two prongs were worn-down so the filter wasn't activating the spring-loaded release valve to let the water thru. As for the light, I just unscrewed it.

Refridgerator too cold adjustment no good.
First I replaced the Defrost Thermostat on the coil and this did not fix the problem. So I ordered this new ADC (Adaptive Defrost Control)board.
It is not identical to the first ADC board and at least one feature the old ADC did was deleted from the function of the Fridge. Not sure why?
Because the board were different a new wiring harness was provided.
Step 1. Unplug the unit and remove the water filter.
Step 2. Remove the covers off of the unit on the top of the fridge using the 1/4" nut driver and a 1/4" deep well socket with extension for the deeper inset fasteners. This exposes the wiring harness and the ADC board as well as the temperature controls.
step 3. Remove the screws for the ADC on the cover and remove the wiring harness from it. No need to note the wire's positions as the new ADC uses a different connector.
step 4. As you remove each connection of the wire harness from the unit replace that connection with then new harness connector to eliminate any confusion. Do each one. One by one until the old harness is completely loose and the new harness is completely installed.
step 5. Install new ADC which in my case was now enclosed in an orange case. Unlike the one I removed that was and open pcb.
Step 6. Replace covers using the 1/4" nut driver and 1/4" wrench.
Step 7. Replace filter and plug in unit.
Apparently there have been 4 versions of this ADC board through the years. My fridge was built in 2003 not long before I bought it.

water leaking(pouring) from the filter into the refrigerator
Pushed the button on the filter in the fridge, the cartridge popped out and in with the new. That simple. Prior to replacement the water was leaking, although it was still producing water and ice through the door. When the filter was out, no leaks, but no water and ice! Just needed a new filter.

Interior light was on "red" indicating a water filter change was needed.
Just pushed the button along side the filter and it popped out in my hand. I unpacked the new filter module and inserted it. It was necessary to run water through the dispenser for a couple of minutes to purge the air and clear the lines. The modular filter assembly is more expenseve than some but the ease of replacement makes the cost a good value.

Water leaking from water filter base.
Tried replacing water filter first. It stilled leaked, so I removed the covers to gain access to the water filter base. After cutting the two hoses to remove the old base, I simply slid the hoses into the new base, screwed it into place, replaced the covers, and then reinstalled the new water filter. No more leak!

Water filter needed replacement
Once I recieved the new filter, I enthusiastically opened the box, removed the filter from it's packaging and set it aside for quick access. I opened the refrigerator door, pushed the release button on the old filter and pulled it out. I then tossed the old filter in the trash.
Once that was done, I removed the 2 rubber caps covering the inlet and outlets on the new filter. Then, with ace precision, I guided the new filter back into the slot until it clicked. I ran the water for 3 minutes as the instructions suggested, then, had a glass of water.
Mission accomplished and it went off without a single hitch!

I have a Frigidaire refrigerator the water filter pops out after a few mins. We installed the filter nine months ago does this mean we need to replace the filter?
For model number Wf2cd
HI Michael,
Thank you for your question. A filter should be replaced every 6 months. If the filter was installed nine months ago, you will need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I am trying to assist my son-in-law in replacing his refrigerator water filter. He indicated that the filter was working fine without leaking until he installed the replacement filter (crystala filter #cf2). The replacement filter appears to be the right one for the refrigerator, and it is a simple task, but i am also experiencing a leak when i put in the replacement filter. Unfortunately, i don't have the old filter, so i cannot compare it to the new filter he purchased. Would you have any suggestions what could be causing the problem?
For model number GLRS237ZAB7
Hi Connell,
Thank you for your question. It is likely the generic filter is just not correct for the appliance. This can sometimes happen with generic filters. I would suggest replacing it with an OEM filter, which is the part that you are inquiring on. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

For model number PLHS268ZCB1
Hello Don, thank you for reaching out. If the water tube to the ice maker is misaligned or blocked, water may not be able to flow into the ice maker. This will eventually cause water to leak. We would recommend checking it, the part number is PS7783975. We hope this sorts out your problem!
