The washer makes noise on the spinning cirle , a grinding sound

Hello Glaston, thank you for your question. There are a few parts we would recommend checking. The parts are Clutch Assembly Part Number: 285785 Direct Drive Motor Coupling Part Number: 285753A, Drive Block - 2 5/16" High Part Number: WP389140. The coupling and the clutch usually will have visual damage which would indicate they need to be replaced. The drive block and bearing would be inspected by removing the agitator and inner tub. The washing machine starts it cleaning cycle out by spinning constantly clockwise along with some loud grinding sound. I've taken apart and inspected the motor - transmission couplings are not broken. Thought it might be neutral drain so I replaced that in the gear case and it still does the same thing. Wondering if it's deeper in the gear case or might it be the timer stuck in spin but trying to agitate?

laundry winding around agitator-grinding like noise-

Hello Karen, thank you for contacting us. Based on our research, the issue could be due to worn-out agitator dogs/cogs, part number PS388034. The small plastic teeth inside the upper agitator that allow it to ratchet in one direction. When these wear down the upper agitator spins loosely instead of ratcheting properly, causing clothes to wrap around the shaft rather than circulating through the water. The grinding sound occurs as the worn teeth slip against the inner cam under load. Glad to be of assistance!
