Hello Perry, Thank you for your inquiry. The damper controls how much cold air is released from the freezer compartment into the fridge compartment. If it was faulty, it could cause the fridge to be too cold or too warm. The clicking sound could also be the evaporator fan, the condenser, or the run capacitor.
