Product Description
Lint Filter Specifications
This manufacturer-certified dryer lint filter is used to collect lint during the dryer cycle, to prevent damage to the machine and to prevent lint from sticking to clothes. This model comes in white and is easy to install. It slides into the lint filter slot in your dryer. If there is visible damage to the screen then it's time to replace the part. Check your user manual and model number to see if this is the right part for you. Make sure you empty the lint filter after every use of the dryer and check the filter slot for an excess buildup of lint, which can shorten the life of your filter and be a fire hazard. The screen is approximately 20 inches in length, not including the handle, and around 8.5 inches wide.

Door catch broken; lint filter handle had come off
Removed some screws and partially dismantled the door so I could get the old catch out. Inserted the new catch, and put the screws back in. Saved me an $80+ service call.
On the filter, I had to use pliers to remove the old one because the handle had broken off. Did that, and inserted the new one. Done. Sears had been unable to supply me with a new filter.

No Heat - everything else was functional
After 30 miutes of research on this website I felt confident to investigate the problem. Removal of the back cover is straightforward. Initially I did not appreciate and obstruction of the ductwork exitting the dryer. I bypassed the thermal fuse by removing the wires and temporarily taping them together and heat was restored. Knowing flow was OK exitting the dryer I investigated flow from the lint trap to the blower motor which is where the problem was located. In our case the lint filter was torn allowing many small objects and lint to near completely clog the pathway between the lint trap and the blower motor. It was difficult to appreaciate how obstructed that pathway was without removing the entire channel from the machine which was simple and required removing two screws at the lint trap opening followed by 3-4 screws on the back of the channel. Once removed, it was easy to appreaciate the debris clogging the channel and was easy to clean with a hose and running water. Replacement was a snap. The parts were oredered and sent in a day. I prophylactically replaced thermastats based upon a recommendation from another website. Replacing previous parts with new parts was a snap. Out the door we were up and running for around $100 (including new thermostats). The dryer repair man may go the way of the dinosaur.

Needed lint filter for my old Kenmore dryer that was no longer manufactured by Sears.
Lint filter supplied by Parts Select was an exact replacement by an aftermarket manufacturer. I put the old one and the new one side by side and they were identical (of course, the handle wasn't broken off on the new one!). I coulnd't be happier. It arrived at my house 2 days after I ordered it. I highly recommend Parts Select.

The old lint screen on the dryer was broken
I analyzed the situation to see how to remove the old lint screen. I carefully pulled out the old lint screen. I was careful not to drop it. With caution, I placed the old lint screen in the trash receptacle that was nearby. Next, I opened the box that the new lint screen came in with a sharp knife. I removed the new lint screen from the box, took off the plastic wrap and inserted the lint screen in the same slot that the old one used to be in. I tested that it was seated correctly by pulling it out and reseating it in the slot. The true test came when I ran my first load of laundry through the dryer. The total repair time for this fix was 14.92 seconds.

No heat in dryer and lint filter torn
Dryer didn't heat. I got the heating element thru sears and when I ordered it I thought I should also order the thermostats but I didn't. Element arrived two days after ordered right on time. Slipped right in in a few minutes. Turned dryer on. No heat. Went back to drawing board. Watched videos on part select site and realized I needed thermostats. Ordered them and lint filter. Arrived right on schedule and also slipped in in no time flat. Turned dryer on and yes it heated perfectly. Wife was pretty impressed with new lint filter as other one was torn with jagged edges. MY SUGGESTION: if your dryer doesn't heat and you can't test each individual item thermostats and heating element order the three of them ( high limit and cycling thermostats and heating element) cause they'll probably will all go at the same time anyway. Then won't have to wait on the second shipment if things don't work with partial replacement. Parts select was great and videos are well understood and easy to follow. Would certainly use again.
