What would cause this dryer to heat up while on the Heavy Duty setting BUT NOT heat up at all on the Normal setting. Heavy Duty setting it gets extremely hot, and we burnt a mattress pad but on Normal it only blows cold air. Exhaust lines are clear and the blower is running great, both as checked outside the house at the vent.

Hi James, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our research, the most likely cause of this issue is a faulty control board, part number PS12718302, which may need to be replaced. One of the circuits on the pcb (printed circuit board) has shorted out and not sending voltage to the heat circuit when on the normal setting. The pcb board is the main "brains" of the dryer controlling voltage to all circuits. So it would be the faulty part if you are getting normal heat on the heavy duty setting but not in the normal setting. We hope this information is useful!
