Stopped making ice, confirmed ice in trough, not ejecting ice or cycling
Please note I had to remove the complete old wire harness from and install the new proper one as my part number was replaced with a new part number. The new ice maker repair kit comes with 2 new harnesses each slightly different one for a 22 cubic foot model the other for the 25cf model. It looks intimidating initially, just take pictures FIRST BEFORE removing old harness to see all the connections. I was surprised this was necessary but it is, as the 'H" pin on the front of the new ice maker motor was different from my old one. Would have only taken me 15 minutes or so to replace the old ice maker but with having to remove the old harness and re-route the new harness it will take you a bit of time and patience but you can do it. Another note you will have to remove the Electromagnet to get to the green grounding screw on the ice maker itself. There are good videos on Part Select and youtube showing how to remove the ice maker itself, but did not find one on the wire harness, like I said just take lots of good pictures showing all the connection points on the old harness and take your time. It was not too hard. And now I have ice again!

Ice Maker quit making ice
I followed the instructions on the You Tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XdMrQeNYNw) and it works! It took about 2 hours because I had to stop and rewind the video. If you remember where things go when you disconnect, it's a snap. It was medium difficulty with very few tools just be careful when you remove the wiring harness. After plugging it in, I heard the first ice drop in the bucket in about an hour; I was so excited I took a picture. This part saved me a service call and over $200!

ice maker quit
For this repair, the following YouTube video was most helpful in showing how to remove the ice maker from the refrigerator model that I have: for some reason this site has deleted my video cite but it is the YouTube video cite that ends in 7HHH03SFdCA Next, because the electrical wiring harness part has changed since production, and the new ice maker part comes with two different harness' (you have to determine which one is most similar to the harness that you remove), take a lot of pictures of the old wiring harness before removing it. There are a lot of different wires that need to be reconnected. There was a prior post by "Greg from Aliso Viejo, CA" that I printed out and followed--that post was also very helpful.

The icemaker had had failed.
They send you just the guts, the inner core of the icemaker, and don't include the back piece that has the motor to rotate the screw-drive dispenser and the blower. You get 2 wiring harnesses, and since no instructions come with, you get to figure out which one. The replacement has a few different plugs than the original and those competent can determine which without too much problem. One obstacle was the grounding screw which was inaccessible without removing another part which would have added greatly to the difficulty. I snipped off the old wire and the ring-terminal on the new one and joined the two with a wire clasp. Works like a charm. I had previously replaced the cycling thermostat and checked that the water valve solenoid was within the proper ohm boundaries-don't spend the money for the whole thing without trying those first! Mine must be an odd model because no YouTube videos showed the icemaker from this model.

Not Making Ice
Pulled the whole assembly out and unscrewed the Ice maker and old wire harness loose. pulled one wire at a time loose and put the new one in place one wire at a time so not to get them wrong. Then the ground wire I cut and stripped and used a wire nut to connect the two green wires together. Otherwise you would have to take more things off to get to the 1/4 nut on the ground wire. Then put the three screws back in the ice maker bottom.Slid it back in place and plugged in the new wire harness. And put the plastic cover back in place to cover the wires. You can also look on U-Tube to see how it is done. They just do not show the new harness I was sent. I guess the ice maker I got fit other models.

ice maker burned out
you tube video was most helpful. after getting new part and disassembling old ice maker, you have to change out the wiring harness. Reinstall ice maker, don't worry about the timing of the unit as it will do this itself, may take 10 hours to produce ice, mine took about 2 hours to go through its' cycles and give me ice. It is running great

Ice tray sticking. No ejection of ice. Motor not working properly
Took out ice maker. Then unscrewed tray after opening old turn motor clock panel and carefully detaching wires from socket(s) where needed. Put in and screwed in new tray with the new motor clock. Replaced wires into new sockets. Put the whole maker back into place. Makes great ice.

Water coming from ice dispenser
First found U Tube video of my exact refrigerator, ice maker remove and replace. Many available, all are helpful. Watch several times. Once part arrived the repair went very smoothly. Only had some difficulty attaching the ground wire, had to loosen the auger motor to attach the tiny screw. Not difficult, just took a bit of time to get the angle on the screw correct.

I have the numbers off of my ice maker its self and the numbers are not matching with the numbers on the new ice maker you are supplying. Well it still work? The numbers on my ice maker are w10314825 or w10509495
For model number GIGFARXXYO8

Hello DeeDee, Thank you for the question. The numbers w10314825 and w10509495 are not part numbers. They could be mold or factory numbers but they are not valid part numbers. Checking the model number provided, the manufacture lists PartSelect Number PS11769140. Hope this helps!

Ice maker stopped making ice. Water line for water (and thus filter) i think is working fine. We know at one point the fridge was too cold and wondered if something froze but we let thing thaw and still not working. We have tried to take the existing ice maker out thinking we could just replace it but pressing on the clip to remove wiring harness as shown in various youtubes doesn't seem to work either.

Hi Faye, thank you for your question. There are two parts that you should check for this issue. The first part to test would be your water inlet valve. The valve has two solenoids that control either the dispenser or the ice maker. Even if your dispenser is working the ice maker solenoid may not be and vise versa. The valve can be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 500 - 1500 ohms of resistance. If that part is testing correctly then you should look into your ice maker being the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My ice maker makes ice but twice in the last week it has continued to fill the ice maker with water and does not stop. Flooding the refrigerator. Do I need to replace the ice maker?
For model number KFXS25RYBL4
PartSelect logo
Hello Martin, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue with the Water Inlet Valve, PartSelect Number: PS11755669. This part releases water from the supply line for the ice maker and if defective it can become stuck open longer then normal over filling the ice maker. Hope this helps!

I have tested the water inlet valves for continuity both the one in back and the double one behind the panel inside the fridge below the water filter and they all pass. I have jumpered the v and l holes to see if water enters the ice maker and it does, however, not on its own (only works when jumpered). Does this sound like replacing the ice maker will resolve the issue of no ice being produced?
For model number WRX735SDBM00
PartSelect logo
Hi Matt, Thank you for your question. If the ice maker is not making ice, then it could be the issue. You should also check the cycling thermostat to see if that is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
