Replacing the pocket handle on a Bosch Dishwasher
I removed the 3 #20 torn screws in the handle, and the six #20 tore screws inside the door that hold the outer door skin in place.

The plastic handle has a series of molded hooks that allow it to snap into the stainless steel skin.

To avoid damaging the skin, use a utility knife to cut behind the two large hooks on the bottom of the handle and the one on each end. One trimmed, the handle easily slides out of the door skin.

The new one will effortlessly snap in-place, then reposition the door skin and fasten with the 9 screw previously removed.

Handle on Bosch dishwasher had cracked
1) Remove the three torx screws securing the handle.

2) Open door. Placing some cushions under the door makes the operation easier.

3) Remove the 12 torx screws securing the door skin. Note the screws are of two sizes. The lower 6 are shorter and fatter than the upper 6, that also secure the control panel.

4) It’s useful to have a 2nd person or a counterweight to secure the door once the skin is removed.

5) Remove the old handle by snapping the securing tabs.

6) New handle is press to fit.

7) Return skin to door and re-insert screws to secure.

8) Re-insert the three handle screws.

Notes

1) A three red wire cable plug was floating in the breeze when i removed the skin. I assumed it had pulled loose during removal of the skin so inserted back into the control panel but the washer would not power up with it inserted. On removal it worked fine. Not sure it it serves a model specific function.

2) It may be possible to use a car trim pry tool to remove the handle but I was concerned the stainless might be distorted.

I have difficulties removing the old handle part despite removing the 3 screws. Are the ends of the handle glued in? Appreciate a response. Thx!

I just replaced the front door handle which required outer skin removal as well. Put it all back together and now it will not turn on. All connectors seem to be plugged in and my breaker did not turn off. What do I look for next?

Hi Justin, Thank you for your question. If you have checked all the connections in the dishwasher door and they check out fine, and the dishwasher will still not start, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. Here is a link from our website that you may reference on what parts to check, https://www.partselect.com/Repair/Dishwasher/Will-Not-Start/. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The top strip of trim on the door handle is broken in two places. The handle itself is fine. I only want to replace the little silver strip at the top. It broke within a week of getting the dishwasher years ago and was replaced. I'm sure the repairman didn't take the whole door off. Is the little strip available as a replacement? I don't want to risk taking the door off to replace the whole - working - handle.
