The original part will not adjust up or down on the control pads. Stuck on 4 for the freezer and 7 for the refrigerator compartment. It's freezing items in the fridge. Will the temperature control board resolve this?

My issue is the freezer and crisper are operating fine but the top is warm. Coils cleaned, notice now there is ice build up at the back of the freezer. Cool air in crisper area only. I have ordered the PS2003772 Thermistor, as a first try.
From what I understand this controls cold air to the top of the fridge ? If this doesn’t work then this board sounds like the next logical step ?
