My oven most of the time lights and sometimes it doesn’t then we smell gas
For model number WFG540H0AW0
PartSelect logo
Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. There are a couple of parts that you should check. I would suggest testing your igniter and make sure that the part is working correctly. You would smell gas because your valve is open to start working. If your igniter is fine you may have to change your spark control module. Good luck with your repair.

Customer complains of gas smell when using oven. Smell comes from vent on top of oven. I'm thinking ignitor.Your thoughts to this issue. Thanks, bill
For model number WFG540H0EW1

Hello Bill, thank you for writing. The scent of gas is normal for a few seconds after turning the oven on, but should dissipate quickly. If it does not, it could indicate an issue with either the Oven Igniter part PS11753053 or the Oven Bake Igniter part PS11752876 for your model. We hope this helps.

When the oven comes on, I hear the normal clicking to ignite the burner, but the oven burner will not ignite. The broiler ignites fine. The stove top burners work fine. Would this be the correct replacement part to fix this problem? Or would the oven sensor more likely be the problem?
For model number WFG710H0AH1
PartSelect logo
Hello Jim, Thanks for your question. You may want to test the oven igniter with a multimeter for electrical continuity, and replace it if it shows no continuity. You should also test the oven sensor, part number PS11749737. I hope this helps.

When installing this igniter, does it just slip out of hole or is it attached to something? I don’t want to force it and brake it. Thank you.

My question is the oven will start then when it goes to fire up again you hear the clicking but then it’s not relighting any help would be great
For model number Mgr8775as1

Hi Eli, Thank you for your question. If the oven is not heating correctly, then the issue is likely with the oven sensor, sometimes called the oven thermostat, and you will need to check it with a multimeter. When testing the sensor with a multimeter, the sensor should be tested at room temperature and it should be unplugged from the oven. You will need to measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. Replace the oven sensor if the reading is less than 900 Ohms or more than 1200 Ohms. If the sensor checks out fine, you will need to check oven igniter, the spark module and the electronic control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I turn on the oven but i do not here any clicking and the oven does not come on. Would the oven igniter be the correct part to replace?
For model number Kgrs202bss0

Hello Pamela, thank you for inquiring. It is possible that this may be caused by a faulty Oven Bake Igniter, this part number PS11752876 for your model range. You may also want to consider the Spark Module, part number PS11753037. You can test the ohms of resistance on the Oven Bake Igniter with a multi-meter. It should read between 40 and 400 ohms to be functioning correctly. Good luck with your repair!

My oven won’t ignite. I smell gas but no Flame
For model number WFG540H0AS0

Hello Gerald, Thank you for your question We have done an investigation into your model WFG540H0AS0, we have discovered that the Spark Module would be the most accurate cause of your symptoms. It is available under part number PS11753037. If the spark module is not functioning properly, it can cause the gas to feed, but not to light. We hope this helps you.

Hi. The bake element in my oven lights then goes out 2-3 seconds later. I can hear the gas valve solenoid click to open. The igniter lights the burner. I removed the burner and cleared a small amount of debris, cleaned and blew out the burner, then lightly sanded the igniter. The burner resumed to operate normally for 2 weeks then began to act up again. I measure 0.2ohms between the connector and tip of the igniter (near perfect conductor). I see in an above post that 40-400ohms is expected? Igniter to chassis ground reads 3.5Mohms. I read somewhere that the igniter on this model may provide feedback to the control module to indicate flame presence? Is this the correct part to replace?

The display on oven will not respond to touching bake icon, if unplug for 15 minutes, will let me turn on oven bake---1) haven't baked 2)next time bake icon won't work-----repeat a few times and still doesn't work---is this a problem with oven display panel or could there be a problem with sensor/ignitor----the stove top works fine. Thank you
