I have a Whirlpool standup freezer, but new items placed in the freezer aren't freezing. Older items are staying frozen. Could it be the defroster causing the freezer to overheat?

Freezer will not freeze. Noticed ice formed on back wall. Checked the coils at the rear bottom of unit and cleaned them. No improvement. Will try defrosting unit and see if that helps. But honestly, i do not think the freezer has ever been cold enough. My ice cream has always be soft. Fridge is operating in the high 30's but sometimes stuff on the lower shelf freezes.
For model number WRT318FMDM00
Hello MB,
Thank you for your question. Our sources suggest replacing the capacitor for the compressor under part PS11757023 for your model if the freezer section is too warm. We hope this helps.
