Switch blown out
Took the back panels off the control console. Unplugged the wires from the failed switch. Removed the knob. Unscrewed the mounting screws from the front. Removed and replaced the switch. Replaced mounting screws, knob, and wires. Replaced back panel covers. Element now works!

The triple burner would not heat
Took the top and bottom plates off from the back of the stove. Removed the knob from the front, unscrewed the two screws holding it in. Then from the back side I unplugged the two wiring harnesses from the old switch, inserted the new one, plugged the harnesses back in and then put the screws back in the front to hold the new knob thing. Put knob back on, put the two plates baxk.on the back, plugged the stove back.in and turned the burner on. Success. I saved over $240 by doing this myself

3-way top element not burning , don't see any burns in the element.
For model number kers505xss01
Hello Ed, Thank you for the question. In order to determine if the burner element or the control switch is defective, I suggest testing both parts with a Multi Meter to check for continuity. The parts do not always show physical signs when they are defective or damaged. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
