Door handle broke and could not open the dishwasher
Managed to open the dishwasher without breaking anything else! 1ST TURN OFF THE POWER SUPPLY AT THE BREAKER BOX,SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT! Took the kick plate off at the bottom, unscrewed the bottom of the front panel and removed the interior door screws. Removed top panel with the circuit board attached, be very careful doing this as you can destroy the circuit board if it cracks or bends.Unplug it and set it aside. remove the broken door handle and insert the new one with the simple metal and spring mechanism. put it all together in reverse order. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN ANY OF THE SCREWS OR YOU CAN STRIP THEM AND HAVE MORE PROBLEMS! I have to say I was surprised how quickly the part arrived during some of the worst weather conditions up north. Very pleased!

Release handle broke with door in latched closed position
Normal handle replacemnt would have been by removeing the screws on the inside panel to release the front panel and permit access to the handle location.
The door being latched closed required aceesing from the exterior by removing all of the outer screws and outide panel, removing all of the interior components and then reaching the latch from outside. A most difficult process. Some other plastic clips were broken in this process.
Once the door latch was released, normal acces was easily gained and replacing the handle was relatively easy. After everything was reinstalled, the top outside pane was loose because the broken clips no longer held the panel in place. A self tapping screw, although visable but not too noticeable, holds the panel secure.
The unit is over 11 years old and plastic is not very durable. The handle was subject to being broken by normal everyday useage. A metal part would have been much better a design for this item.

Bought new ref. and stove and it didn't match in color
No repair just changing color. As a women I went online and ordered all the parts I thought I would need and they arrived within a few days. Everything went together perfect. Dishwasher not cleaning well. Latch not opening easily.
Uncscrewed the lower washer arm retaining nut and replaced it along wint the 2 washers. Cleans like new.
Unscrewed the front panal from behind. Removed the inside vent covering. Unscrewed the handle screws and removed the handle. Replaced the handle and screws but not before gouging the back of my hand ( I had a needle and thread) and then reattached the panal and vent cavering. The blow-up diagrams you all have are a great reference. Thanks

Got home and my wife couldn't the dishwasher door!
After throwing a fit- I looked on the internet for any drawings from the Kitchenaid website. There were none. I then started taking apart the dishwasher, took apart the entire front door. Found that the door handle was broken and went online to find the part. Partselect.com had the drawing of the door assembly, realized that I didn't need to take apart the whole door! Reassembled the door while waiting for the part, then using the partselect drawing, removed only the parts necessary and replaced the broken part!

Handled snapped, could not open door
I personal did the repair, my brother-In-Law did for me. The biggest problem was trying to opening the door up. It took an hour to figure it out. Ordering the part was an easy process.
The repair took him 1/2 hours. Result: I'm back in business!

Broken Door Handle opener
The repair itself want too tough. Use Torx screwdrivers to take screws from inside of door seams, turn inner dryer screen 45 degrees to take off, pry open stainless steel inner door from outer door. Take out old handle, clip in new handle and reverse process. There was no need to disconnect circuit board wiring due to slack in wires. One cautionary note, stainless steel inner door housing is EXTREMELY sharp, sliced 3 fingers while removing/installing inner door.
