Is this part the pre-heater that prevents ice to form in order for cold air to flow down the refrigerator? Thank you
For model number WRT318FMDW00
Hello Al, thank you for waiting. The part that prevents ice from forming on the coils is the Defrost Heater
Part Number: PS11752658. If this part is being replaced, the thermostat should also be replaced which is part number WPW10392132. I hope this helps!

How does this probe attach to the heater rod? The diagram seems to show it just hanging off, but there's two holes on the probe almost like it's supposed to be bolted on.
For model number 10679402410
Hello Alli, Thank you for the question. The Probe just clips onto the heater. Hope this helps!

Is there a timer for the heat probe that controls when it turns on and off. If not what controls it. Can it be tested.
For model number MFW2055DRM
Hi Peter, thank you for reaching out. It keeps ice from freezing in your freezer's drain line. After a defrost cycle, water can freeze in the line if the heat probe is not installed, causing ice to build up in your freezer. If it does not work, you will see the drain line freezing. The defrost thermostat, part number PS11754118, controls the heat probe. And defrost timer is part of the control board, part number PS11773172, this part activates the defrost cycle. Customer service is always available to help you place an order if you are having trouble doing so. Good luck with your repair.

I cannot find a part for the thermostat to replace and do not see one anywhere on the coils. My refrigerator is freezing over and blocking air to the bottom section. I’ve already replaced the board
For model number WRT519SZDM02
Hello, thank you for contacting us. Your model does not have a thermostat. Control board manages the functions of the refrigerator such as cooling and defrost times. We would recommend checking the defrost heater, part number PS11752658, to fix the issue. We hope that helps!
