Instruction from Whirlpool Not Good (No problem with Part Select)

Trial and error. The instructions from Whirlpool included with the part had minuscule pictures so it was hard to follow. The written instructions were good. But "a picture is worth a thousand words." Eventually it worked. The metal replacement part is much better the the plastic original. Not a good reflection on Whirlpool.

I called an experienced plumber, who balanced and installed my new dishwasher properly, using the brackets I ordered from Parts Select, after an INEXPERIENCED plumber had tossed the factory-provided mounting brackets out with the shipping carton. Relief!

OEM roller wheels were on plastic shaft which broke. Replacement was on stainless steel bracket with metal shaft, better quality. Don't think I will have to replace again.

The new rack came with four parts... those four parts were the wheels that the rack rides on to slide it into the dishwasher. You will need to recycle two rubber bumpers, your old utensil basket and the cone in the center of the rack. Getting the cone free was not easy. It has to be rotated to release it from the wire rack. I had to pry i

t free with a screwdriver. Once rotated it lifted out easily. I noted how the cone lined up in the old rack and installed it the same way in the new rack. It was much easier to install than remove. The new rack has a gray tinge to it but fits perfectly and we are pleased with the end result.

I shut off the power to the dishwasher, then I removed the front panel under the door. On the right side just behind the electrical box there are two wires going up to the hi-limit thermostat, (you may need a small mirror to see it), remove one screw that is holding the thermostat bracket, unplug the wires from the old thermostat and inst

The upper rack adjuster kit was replaced exactly as the video showed. I felt it was not very complicated and the new parts look more hefty then the original parts.
Front track stops was just a matter of snapping them into place.

I carefully followed the video instructions step by step. They were detailed, clear, and pointed out how to avoid installation mistakes. WIthout the video I would have been tempted to just figure it out myself - ("Hey, I'm a handy guy. How hard could it be, right?"). With the video I sailed right through with no dumb errors. I followed the installation instructions included with the kit, they are not the clearest or the most detailed but they allowed me to finish the job in under 15 minutes. Only one side was broken but I replaced both sides in the time. Not a big job and very easy for a DIYer with average mechanical ability.

The install video was invaluable, and made installation a breeze. Unfortunately it did not include instructions to remove the original adjuster — which was of a slightly different design as the replacement. I eventually got the old part off using a screw driver to pry the plastic snap connections apart.
