Replacing top vent filter

Followed owners manual instructions to the letter: removed two top screws, opened the unit door so I could slide out the old filter. We don’t cook much at all in the unit, mostly just heating coffee and reheating leftovers. BUT! Both were easy to replace. I followed the instructions in the users manual which came with the microwave. On the grease filter, I removed the 2 Phillips head screws which hold the grill plate in place. I had to open the microwave all the way to remove the grill plate. Problem was due to a faulty door switch. Replaced with a new switch and the microwave now works fine! Only thing that was tricky was that LG uses the hex screws with a peg in the middle to keep the microwave cover on. Had to use a small screwdriver and pliers (on the screwdriver) to unscrew the screws.

Microwave would not heat food, but everything else worked.

Problem was a faulty door latch switch. I easily accessed the switch by removing the control panel, total of 4 screws. After that, just disconnected the three switch door latch assembly and connected the new one. Took about half an hour and was very easy. Unit works perfectly now.

No Heat

1. Removed unit from the cabinet. (2 screws). 2. Remove the outer microwave metal shell. (10 screws). 3. Locate and remove part. (3 screws). 4. Install new part and replace all screws. 5. Install unit back into cabinet. So easy. I will share this site with all of my friends.
