Researched repair videos on You Tube and found a half dozen videos with narrative describing this ice maker replacement. Viewed a couple of them and just followed their instructions. Extremely easy for anyone who is even just a tad handy. I estimate I saved between $200-250 by completing the repair myself.

Scary not hard. But pry panel out start at bottom or right side and pull. and was told from tube video that lg said if you break a few tabs that was normal and not to worry there is plenty. I think I broke one but after repair just pushed it back into place and it is good as new. The broken part was obvious and easy to replace. Just g o for it

I disconnected the refrigerator power, removed the 2 screws holding the mullion door on the left side of the refrigerator French-door (it’s the flap that allows the door to close). Removed the broken spring and installed the replacement spring in its place. Reinstalled the mullion door by putting it in place and installing the previously removed screws.

Replace the light switch for the refrigerator
1 of 2 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Karyn from DURHAM, NH
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
Cover the putty knife with tape so you do not scratch the side wall where the switch is located. Slide the knife under the edge of the switch and push in a bit towards the switch and slightly twist to pop the switch out of its hole. Disconnect the wires from the switch and simply plug in the new switch. Push wiring back into the hole and careful push the switch into the hole until it snaps into place.
