New receptacle element. I am a girl and I did it.!!!!

Turn off power 220v, opened cook top, remove old 8" switch and replace with one of the new switch ps2089438. However, I have another cook top, it is a 6" heating element. Can I use the same switch for 8" and use on a 6" heating element? Since I order 2 new ps2089438 switches. Thank you for your anwser. Kahn lee

Pulled stove out to unplug. Removed screws holding end covers then remove screws on the underside of cover as you face the stove top.Remove knobs.Pull bottom cover forward and up so you can lift it off to see the insides.Remove wires and attach to the new part one at a time. The repair only took me 10 minutes to do. I purchased the surface replacement kit from partselect.com. The part arrived in two days. The instructions were very simple. I read the instructions on line during my purchase. When I received the new part, I simply did the repair. Including shipping, the cost was less than $20.00. A service call ... Starting by me making a substitute prong to keep the stove working while the part this coming by mail. was a piece of cake.

The video on your website showed me how to take out 1 screw, cut the existing wires and strip the ends. The kit came with 2 porcelan wire nuts to re-connect the wires and it was done. Less than 10 minutes. It saved me $100.00 to get it repaired.I bought 2 in case I need another one in the future.They only cost $11.00 each. Awesome website ... Read more .

(a) I took out (and threw away) two stained 8* chrome drip bowls on my kitchen range; (b) ti put in two new 8" chrome drip bowls on my kitchen range. I'm pleased that I was equal to the task.

Removed heating element, installed new drip pan, replaced heating element. Was amazed at fast delivery - ordered in afternoon, arrived fed ex next morning!

Remove old drip bowl from the range and put a new one back.

I will begin by saying that not only will I continue to order my parts from PartsSelect, but I also highly recommend this business. If you call Whirlpool be careful that they forward your call for parts to some preferred vendor, which a customer might assume is Whirlpool but it is not. With regard to the drip pan, Whirlpool had not updated the part number for these as I found out when i called them. Whirlpool no longer uses the drip pans without the holes which is a serious problem since this could be hazardous to the owners of these ranges if you are forced to purchase the drip pans with the holes in them. That said, I ended up keeping my old drip pans, because if you spill grease under the new ones with the holes in them and since the range design with the fan built in on the top does not allow you to lift the top to clean under the pans, you could end up with a grease fire. This is not the fault of PartsSelect and they handled my order in a manner that I would give them a rating of exceptional for customer service.

Used new plug in coil burner.

Well, I had to search a bit deeper in the internet to find out that the problem was not with the surface burner (which did look a bit burned out anyway) but rather with the surface burner switch (Part Number: PS336885) which must have ben damaged by the heat of the closest burner. If this problem would have been better documented (or if ... Read more I would have searched more carefully) I would have saved over $40 with parts (Surface Burner Receptacle Kit) that I didn't quite need. Repairing the switch was very easy, thanks also to the available video , even though the stove used on this video (front panel) didn't quite match mine (top-back panel).

Shut off power at breaker box. Removed top burner unit. Removed old receptacle (Mounting screw was rusty so I drilld out the old one.) Cut wires from old unit. Stripped wires back on old unit. Attached old and new wire with ceramic wire nut. Attached new unit. Reinserted top unit. Reconnected power and "voila". Wife was smiling ... Read more again.
