JBP21BB1 General Electric Range - Instructions

I pulled the oven door off the hinges and took the bolts out of the bottom of the over that were holding the strip on. I then pulled the strip off and replaced it with the new on. I replaced the bolts and then replaced the door on the hinges.

I turned the power off to the stove. I removed the 4 screws from the back. I took the 2 screws out of the old control to8 to give me a reference for the wires. I then disconnected each wire from the old part and directly to the new part. I then turned the power on before I put the stove back, and as I flipped the breaker, my wife yelled at me that she just saw fire come out of the back. I thought that was interesting because there just went $105 up in smoke. I turned the power off and went to look at the damage. After searching over all the parts and not finding any burnt areas, I had my wife turn on the power while I looked for the problem. I located the problem at the power box where the stove is connected to the wall. When I pulled the stove out it pulled one of the wires out of the wire nut and caused it to hit the metal box and when the power came back on, it melted the wire nut because of the loose wire. I replaced the wire nut and reconnected the wires securely and tried turning the power on again, and the part worked just like new. Be careful not to pull loose any wires.

I carefully removed the burners, removed the bowls and replaced them with the new ones. Easy as pie!

Got all my parts and tools ready. Sat on a stool in front of oven. Swapped out old with new. Not bad at all.

1) Turn off power at circuit breaker panel
2) Slide out Range from wall
3) Unplug Range
4) Remove back panel and unplug electrical connections to socket
5) From front of oven, remove glass cover over old oven light bulb and remove flange that holds socket and bulb
6) Remove old socket from mounting flange and discard.
7) Place new socket into mounting flange
8) Screw mounting flange and new socket into the oven from front. Reattach electrical connections from back.
9) Screw in new light bulb from front
10) Replace existing glass cover over new light bulb and snap wire holder in place
11) Replace back panel
11) Plug in range
12) Slide range back to original position
13) Turn on power
Works like a charm! Thanks for having the parts after 30 years!

1. Bought replacement part said to replace old switch.
2. Pulled old switch out.
3. Replacement part did not match. Would have to take entire switch panel apart to change to this part.
4. Multiple-part instructions very poor. For my switch unreadable.
5. Old part was "push to turn". New part was not.
6. Knob did not fit new switch. Old shaft was "D" shaped. New is square.
7. Gave up. Need to call repair shop.

I am a 62 y/o single female and was able to make this exchange of parts with ease. The toughest was getting the old terminal's wire clips free from years of gunk! I was pleased with the ease of installation and that it really worked afterwards. By the way, thank you Parts Select for getting this part to me very quickly. If a novice can diagnose, find the correct part and install it with success then anyone could do the same.

Took off the ring burners and the old drip pans . installed the new drip pans and the old burners took less than 3 minutes...so easy

Nothing to it. Took off the old ones and put on the new! Tada - new stove!!

I got tired of trying to find the right parts in the stores and decided to order them. Finally I have the drip pans that fit my range!

Fortunately there was no repair needed, just a replacement of old parts, but I was very pleased with the speed of delivery and the quality of the parts. I'm a happy customer.

I went online to find the part. I also found a how-todo it self installation instructions. So, I thought I would try it. I pulled the stove out and unplugged it. It took me 2 days to try and remove the screws. They wouldn't budge. On the second day, I was about to give up. I tried to loosen the screws again. It finally moved!! So, I kept at it. Took me about 10 mins on the first screw. Then another 10 or 15 minutes on the second one. Once I took the screws off, I didn't know how to remove the wires. I kept picking at them for about 5 minutes, and it was easy then. Removed the old bake element. Then connected the new element wires, put the screws back in (not tight). Plugged it up and tested it. It worked!!!!!! I've never did anything like this before. If the screws wouldn't have been so hard to remove;it would have went a lot better.

took 2 screws out removed old element, put new element in and put the 2 screws back in. All worked great and I baked bread that same day. The service was fantastic, and $40.oo cheaper than the appliance store I checked with.

This is far to simple to even be a worthy story ,other than that the cause is a bit interesting. My wife had placed a plastic cutting board and some meat into the oven to get it away from my counter-cruising dog.
Later, without remembering the cutting board she turned the oven on to "broil." Hmmmm...
