The ice maker quit filling up with water, the water dispenser still still works.

Hello Joe, Thank you for the question. We suggest checking the water line to the Ice Maker first and make sure the line is not froze over. Also if the Filter has not been changed in the last 6 months, you may need to replace it. If they are good you can test the Valve. The Valve has a solenoid for the ice maker and one for the dispenser. Set your multitester to the R X 1 ohms setting to test for continuity. Place each of the multitester's leads on a terminal. Your multitester should display a reading between 200 and 500 ohms. Closely examine your water inlet valve. The exact ohm resistance rating you should test for may be marked on the valve. if the Valve is good, you may need to replace the Ice Maker. We hope this helps!

I searched the model number for my Whirlpool refrigerator on the internet and partselect.com came up so I clicked on it. The site asked for my model number which I typed in and there it was...a picture of my refrigerator in full detail and very well diagramed and labeled. Thanks to the pictorial diagram, I was able to order correct parts. It was just a matter of removal of broken parts and replacing them. Ice maker now working and air is no longer getting into freezer which was freezing up ice maker. Thanks for timely delivery, now I am able to use ice dispenser, which I haven't used for long time. Thanks
