DU8950XT0 Whirlpool Dishwasher - Instructions

Turned off electric to machine.Removed water with shop vac, Removed lower panel, removed drain hose from check valve and garbage disposal. using shop vac removed blockage from drain hose. Reconnected hose turned on electric cycled dishwasher. Didn't work. Turned off electric, removed water, removed basket, sprayer arm, pump cover, used a six point deep socket to hold impeller while removing 1/4 in. screw. Removed the impeller and found the problem.The lower impeller shaft is broke. removed separator, chopper blade and spring, removed pump cover and broken drain impeller and lower seal. Cleaned all old parts and installed new drain pump kit. Replaced spray arm , basket . Turned electric on, cycled the machine one time. Checked for leaks, replaced lower panels. Put away tools. popped off the old rollers + tracks; then snapped on the new ones; as my granddaughter would say "easy peasy lemon squeezy". Took hardly any time at all. :-)

I installed the opener spring in the direction it was needed to open the door then installed the pin. I placed the door in the position it goes and took a pair of pliers and squeezed the pin into the pin slot. the spring has to be forced into a tension position. I did this by sliding the spring to one side and forcing it into position, the other side is done the same way. works great

I could not find a 90 degrees 1 inch car wrench and by them the impeller head wish is plastic was all run down so nothing will hold it, finally, I heat up a flat screw driver and cut the impeller near the head whit the help of a hammer , and them I could grab it with a pressure wrench and loose the screw up. finally the fix when fine and is working good. the parts are just the ones I need it. Thank you.

My model was DU7600XS0. I disassembled according to the video and the parts diagram here. I found a piece of metal, a pebble, and a wrecked drain impeller. I cleaned out all the debris and began reassembly. I found that the chopper blade shipped with this kit has a lip and will not fit over the metal drain impeller sleeve on this model. It needs to, or else it will not screw together properly and the impeller will not be able to turn. My old one was undamaged, so I used that instead. Also, the large black wash impeller has a shaft that is longer than the original part and because of that, it would not screw on. Again, the original wash impeller was fine, so I used the old one. I replace the gaskets and screwed everything else back together. It works great now. No water is left after the cycle anymore and the sound it makes is back to normal. Money well spent on this kit!
