Ice maker leaking

Quite easy. Turn off water supply and turn off ice maker at switch inside freezer. Unscrew the old unit, separate the electrical connection, and pull it out. New unit comes with parts that do not fit my refrigerator, so visually examine the new and old units, reuse any needed parts from the old unit, such as plastic water ramp. Reconn ect the electrical connector, and screw it back in. Turn water supply back on and then turn ice maker back on at switch inside freezer. Discard unused parts. Wait up to 24 hours for new ice cubes to be made.

Ice Maker not making ice

The video on the GE site was great. Showed step by step instructions on how to remove the old ice maker and install the new one. Also helpful was the detail on the water chute which needed to be moved from the old ice make to the new one. Saved hundreds of dollars by not having to have a repairman do this work for me.

my ice maker quit working

I watched the video from the link that was sent to me with the shipping notice. It was very easy to understand. I had no trouble at all. I'm 75 years old woman, however, and I can fix about anything. Don't be afraid to fix appliances yourself if you feel you have the knowledge.

I read the step by step instructions that came with the part. I turned two screws and disconnected the electrical harness and Removed the icemaker. Two other parts from the old icemaker were easily removed without any tools and put on the new icemaker. The new icemaker was put in the same way the old one came out. I reconnected the el ectrical harness and tightened the old screws. The hardest part of the whole job was reading the directions. They were easy to follow if you take the time to Just read them!

Ice maker kept on making ice
  • Michael from Santa Fe, NM
  • A Bit Difficult
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Pliers, Screw drivers
I ordered a new micro switch that was activated by the high ice lever. Once the switch was replaced the ice maker cut off as it should have and stopped producing too much ice. YHis job was of moderate skill level, the most challenging was replacing a spring that popped out then reassembling the unit.

Watched the video that showed how to disassemble the ice maker. Then went right in and replaced the part and turned it on. It immediately started filling up the ice tray. I still have not been able to find out why it does not make as fast as the original ice maker. The tempeature for the freezer is set pretty cold.

Ice Maker stopped working

Took out one hex screw, disconnect electric couplings, pulled original ice maker out and found that the water supply line to the ice maker was frozen solid as well as the shute cup. Used hair dryer to thaw out the line and the cup reinstaled old ice maker and it worked fine. Did not have to use the new part at all at this time. Am keeping new part for future use.

Super easy, had my 15 year old do it (with my supervision).
Followed very clear Instructions that come with the replacement...
But, he could not get to the plug location until he removed 4 screws holding the motor assembly that spins the ice in the drawer and moved it out of the way...
Followed the rest of the instructions. ..
Works like a charm.

Followed the video demo and would have been done sooner but for limited work space- narrow freezer compartment and the release tabs on the electrical plug. First home repair that the air was not blue and got done in under time allocated.

slide rail broke (after ten years of use) when I yanked it too hard while cleaning the fridge,.
  • Ronald from Marlborough, MA
  • Really Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
  • Screw drivers
Ordered a new one and watched a YouTube video on how to do it. Really didn't need it, but it was a nice touch by Part Select because it made the repair go faster than it would had I not seen the video. All it took was one screwdriver, which is what the video said, and a little aligning of the side rail with the from piece. Screwed it toge ther (2 screws) and that was it .
