first I had to remove a plastic cover on the back of the door to get to the thing your instructions said where to start. I figured out how to do that myself. Taking this cover off was difficult because I was afraid I was going to break it. After I got the cover off I noticed that most of the plastic clips that held it on were so crysal ized ( I guess from the continued heat exposure) that the broke off. After removing a few screws I now was able to do what your instructions told me to how to remove this door plate. Again just some pastic clip held it in place. I could not unlatch these clips and remove this cover because you had to hold about 3 or 4 different clips apart at the same time and just myself couldn't do that by myself. So eventually I had to get some help with another person to hold all these clipps apart at the same time to get this plate off. After we got this off it was easy to change the door latch and put back together. So not knowing how to do this and your instructions not able to tell me everything I needed to know, I turned a 15-20 minute job into about 2 hours.

unplugged power cable / unhooked front vent / unscrew the monitor panel / slide up to dislodge / take the fuse out and put in the new one in / fuse is located right in front of monitor panel once its open might be covered by wirings / you can unpin the cables from the panel to make it easier for you just make sure to put it back properly or you can have somebody hold the panel for you. Installing the fuse is easy waiting for the parts is crazy......

the online instructions were ideal - just unscrewed the right-hand screw (the only screw) and replaced the bulb by inserting gently but firmly)...getting the old bulb out was a pain, b/c it shattered in my grasp (with little bits of glass all over the stove!), but that has nothing to do with the purchase and installation from this site - all a very good experience

The bottom latch of the latch/spring assembly had broken off
8 of 13 people found this instruction helpful.
  • Charlotte from Leawood, KS
  • Easy
  • Less than 15 mins
First I removed the inside of the door using a putty knife and loosening the edges. I removed the old latch by- (1) lifting up and sliding both the top and the bottom out of the door (2) pulling out the bottom part and (3) using a small plastic fork to push the spring off of the top part (paying close attention to how it was already sit ting in the microwave). It required a little twisting (not much) and it came out.

I put the new spring on the new piece on the hook part. Then I put the new spring on the oven (where the old spring had been). I stretched the latch up and put the top slot back in and then with a little (very little) pressure I popped the bottom back in.

Over the stove microwave installed in top cabinet row.
1. Unplug device.
2. Two people to remove from wall/cabinet (remove two, large, top mounting screws and rotate entire microwave down and off the wall mount). Should be some wood spacers between top of device and bottom of cabinet.
3. Remove screws from sheet metal cover .
4. Remove one screw holding blowers in place and rotate out of the way, in order to gain access to 2 of 5 screws that hold the magnetron in place.
5. Unplug magnetron and remove the 5 screws.
6. Drop in new magnetron and re-assemble microwave in reverse order (steps 5-3).
7. Two people restore micro to wall/cabinet. Replace wood spacers, re-install two, large mounting screws (finger-tight). Test device. Secure the two large screws.

Disassembled the front cover, found slow blow fuses, then replaced with microwave fuses 250V-20Amp. Utilized a few fuses to pin point the problem, Microwave functions all worked except the express feature, made an assumption after using a tester that it was the high voltage capacitor and the diode that attaches. Replaced both, plugged in and tested. Worked! reinstalled the unit. Sucessfull for the past month.

Handle Broke off microwave

First I removed the vent on top. 2 screws had to be removed. Once plastic vent was removed I could lift door off. I then placed the door flat on counter top to get to backside of door. With 2 flat screwdrivers I pried apart the Door choke cover carefully as to not break the tabs. Its almost impossible not to break them. Thats why I orde red the replacement part. Good thing. I only broke 1. I could have reused it. However I chose to use the new one. Since handle in incorporated in the door, you have to take the door apart. I purchased the Door choke cover as well as a handle. After you remove the choke cover, remove the 6 or 7 small screws around the inner frame next. Now you can get to the door handle screws. Since the door handle broke off, you need to use needle nose pliers to hold the broken plastic on the outside of the door while unscrewing the inside screw that holds the handle. Once removed. replace the handle. Then carefully put it back the same way you took it apart. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes. Im a Female and thrilled I didn't have to call a repairman and get charged 200+
