My ice maker is not working. How do I know if I need a new solenoid or ice maker itself? Also, my ice maker plugs directly into the solenoid unit. If I purchase a new solenoid, how do I get one that has a plug in?

Hi Cathy,
Thank you for the question.To see if the ice maker or valve is working you can pour a glass (enough to fill the tray) of water into the ice maker, if the ice maker makes ice as normal then you need to replace the valve, if no ice is made then there is an issue with the ice maker.
As long as you order the parts based on the model number they will be the same parts as you have on the appliance now.
