Removed the inside evaporator coil to do inside solder job, use torch to heat solder joints on the outside drier in order to remove it and install new drier. Soldered Heat exchanger line to drier and 1/4” copper line to compressor. Wrapped with new insulation wrap. Pulled a vacuum on system and then charged with 4.4 ounces of 134a freon. The ice from the ice maker has a metal taste to it. Is there a filter that needs to be changed?
For model number frt18il6dmn
Hi Dawn,
That is a great question. This model dose not come with a water filter option. We suggest cleaning the ice maker to start and to make sure all food in the freezer is properly sealed as the ice can absorb the odors and cause a bad taste. If the problem is still on going you may need to remove the water lines and give them a flush just in case there is a build up.
Hope this helps!

Our ice machine is not making ice--could the filter be plugged so no water is traveling in the tube?
For model number FFHI1817LSA
Hello Nancy and thanks for writing.
Yes, it could be the filter or the water inlet valve. It seems the part has been discontinued for your model and is no longer available. We have no known replacement information in our system. We recommend you contact the manufacturer of the part to see if they have recently released a new substitute. however you can check the valve and clean if debris is stuck in it. We hope this helps. Our ice maker doesn't always make ice but sometimes it makes lots! We got and inline filter to put to filter the water just to protect the ice maker from possible trash in the water. We just changed the filter, but don't think that is the problem what else can cause this?
For model number NFTR18X4LW6
Hi Stephanie,
Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like either your ice maker or water inlet valve might be malfunctioning. You can test your water inlet valve with a multi-meter to see if the part is still working correctly. If it is, then it will be your ice maker that you will have to replace. Good luck with your repair.

freezer does not freeze in cold temperature
For model number FFTR1821TB8
Hello Thomas, thank you for your question. There could be a few reasons why your freezer isn’t freezing. First check that the vents inside are not blocked with food. Then check that your condenser coils are not dirty. To test the evaporator fan, set the fan on a benchtop and locate the two power terminals, which is where the wires connect to the fan coil. Touch one of the tester leads to one terminal and the other lead to the other terminal and check the reading. If you get a low resistance reading, which is anything less than about 100 O, the charge generated by the tester is circulating normally and the coil is good. If you get a very high or infinite resistance reading (which is denoted by OL on a digital meter), there's a break somewhere, meaning the coil is bad and the fan needs to be replaced. Part number PS726193. If the evaporator fan is good, we recommend replacing the start relay. Part number PS12584841. We hope this helps.

Inside back of older refrigerator is a large plastic 3-humped unit hanging crooked. What is it? How fix it?
For model number FRS22ARFD1
Hello Noni, thank you for your question. We believe the part you are referring to is the water inlet valve which is part PS428394. Here is a testimonial from a past customer. I removed an access panel loosened the two screws that was mounting the water valve to the refer frame. I took off the three lines to the valve and unplugged the wires from it and reinstalled the new valve. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you.
