My LG Ice Maker stopped making ice
Once I determined the problem to be the ice maker I got on line and came across "Part Select" website, I simply put in the make & model # and I quickly found the part I needed and placed my order, much to my surprise I received the replacement part the next day. The removal and installation was extremely easy, I simply removed two "Allen" head screws holding the ice maker in place and removed the unit, next I un-plugged the electrical coupling and removed the ground wire. I installed the new part in the same manner the entire process took me less the 15 minutes, and most importantly we had ice in less then 2 hours.

Hi Harry,
Thank you for your question. If there is water leaking from the ice maker, the issue may be with the water inlet valve. If a component in the water inlet valve has failed, it will prevent the valve from working correctly. You should also check the ice maker and the tubing connected to it to make sure everything is fitted correctly. To test the water inlet valve, you will need to use a multi-meter. To check the water inlet valve, unplug your refrigerator, disconnect the water supply and locate your water inlet valve. It is usually on the rear of the refrigerator, near the bottom. You will need to remove the rear panel to access it. Inspect the valve inlet supply connections for leaks and tighten or replace the connectors. You should also inspect the valve body for any cracks or damage Check the outlet tubing for cracks or abrasions that may also create a leak and replace any cracked or brittle tubing and connectors. If none of the above appear to be the cause of the leak, remove the water inlet valve from the unit. Using a multi-meter on the Rx1 setting, test your valve for continuity by placing the probes on the valve’s terminals. You should receive a reading of 200 to 500 ohms.
If you receive any other reading, you need a replacement water inlet valve. To test the ice maker, disconnect your appliance from both the power source and water source. Inspect the fill tube and the fill cup area at the back of the icemaker to make sure that they are not frozen. If there is an ice buildup in that area, confirm no foreign objects have disrupted the flow of water into the fill cup.
Inspect the outlet tubing from the fill valve to the ice maker fill tube for any signs of restrictions.
If any issues are found while performing the checks above, you will may a replacement ice maker assembly. If nothing obvious has caused the ice buildup, then suspect the inlet valve or tubing. If you are not familiar with how to use a multi-meter, here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may use as a general reference to show you how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

When you press the switch for ice, the ice door does not open. Everything else works on the inside. You have to open the little ice door by hand to get ice. It use to open until you release the switch with your cup and the ice auger would turn off and the door shut. I had to replace this part years ago and I thought it was a control at the bottom of the frig.

Hello Joe, Thank you for the question. If the Dispenser was opened up and verified the Flap, Lever or the spring are not loose or damaged, you may have a defective Dispenser Control Board, PartSelect Number PS3533949. We hope this helps!

The inside door of the icemaker does not stay closed and when we open the regular door on the refrigerator, the ice maker door opens and gets caught on the other door. Is it possible to buy parts to fix this problem?

Hello Doug, Thank you for the question. If the Ice Maker was installed and not making ice After 24 hours, we suggest testing the Water Valve with a Multimeter. The valve has a solenoid for the Ice Maker and one for the dispenser. Set your multitester to the R X 1 ohms setting to test for continuity. Place each of the multitester's leads on a terminal. Your multitester should display a reading between 200 and 500 ohms. Closely examine your water inlet valve. The exact ohm resistance rating you should test for may be marked on the valve. We hope this helps!
