Replacing filter and auger/ice bucket assembly
After I realized that I needed to take the front and door off the old ice bucket (which involved removing 4 screws) and mount it on the new part (putting in those 4 screws), the job was easy. Installing the new assembly requires shoving it into place without really being able to see how or where it attaches, so I wasn't sure it worked until it produced ice a few hours later, and it did.

The filter on the fridge was more than 10 years old, but the new GE Smart filter and its adapters screwed and snapped into place easily. Subsequent filter changes will be simple - just a snap!

Ice Bucket Shelf Broke at screw hole also at back . Metal attachment at back broke free from fan cover.
GE in my opinion made a poor design the ice shelf bracket attached to the metal fan cover after metal tab was bent down that is also where it broke it was riveted to this but the metal broke free
So i purchased a piece of aluminium flat strap cut this about 1" long then riveted this to the shelf bracket and pushed this through the metal fan cover and let rest there and put screw in at other end. Also purchased alum angle also to remake ice shelf when complete then i will use it as ice bucket shelf instead of plastic one.

Rusted Auger and Broken Ice Bin Door
After bagging the ice in the old bin and rinsing out the new bin, I removed 4 screws that held the old ice bin facing/door frame to the old ice bin and the facing came right off. Then I just screwed the facing on the new ice bin, popped the new door into place, and put the new ice bin back into the freezer. Although web descriptions for the parts I ordered referenced GE and other appliance brands and not Kenmore at all, the search engine led me to these parts and everything fit perfectly.
