Defective Timer on an Electric Clothing Dryer
It took longer to find the part online than it did to replace it. 6 removed screws w/ a nut driver, 3 electrical quick disconnect plugs and swapping the knob from the old timer. Total time to repair this part myself, under 6 minutes.
The reason I needed to swap the part out was that the dryer would turn on, but the timer portion was broken and the timer would no longer count down and turn off on its own.
I'm very happy with the price and speed of shipping by Parts Select. They were about $55 dollars cheaper than some of their online competitors for this part and the part arrived within two days.

Dryer did not dry clothes due to no Heat
First removed the power from the dryer for safety. Removed the back of panel. After testing to see if there was continuity in the heating element and replacing all the thermostats in a previous repair. The switch was the next thing to replace. Removed several screws holding the switch in place then disconnected the cables one at a time and placed onto the new switch. The cables plugs are also unique in the desgin which would enable a person not to mess up if all the wire detached at one time. Then reattached the switch back into the dryer, then attached the back panel.

The dryer heats for a short time but then there is no heat. I checked the limits and the thermostats and they have continuity. Could it be the timer?

Hello Terry,
Thanks for your question. You may also want to test the heating element for continuity along with the terminal block. Check your belt as well for any signs of wear and tear. Only replace the timer if all of these parts are intact and functioning.
I hope this helps.
For two years in order to start the dryer I have to turn and hold the start button, then rotate the timer to the position you want and let go of the start knob. Seems like it reaches a “sweet “ spot that allows it to start. Now after doing that the dryer stops after a short time but will restart immediately if you do the start procedure again. When running if I manually rotate the timer knob it will stop. Would the replacement part be the timer or the rotation knob? The timer seems to work could the contacts on the rotation knob be bad? Thanks for your help!

Hi Mike, thank you for reaching out. Based on the description you have provided, you may need to check the push to start switch first. If it is fine, we would recommend checking the timer, part number PS268268. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this will resolve your problem!
