My oven GE is jtp18aw. I suspect one of the limit switches are not working. I have checked both switches. One has continuity the other does not. Which one is good. I have ordered a new one and i have checked it too. It does not have continuity. Please let me now.

I have received the order 10986865 for the item ps23676 and the item is the same as i have on my oven. I measured the received limit switch and the ohmmeter does not show 0 ohm (it would not move from 500 ohm on the scale). This is the same measurement i got from the switch i have on the oven. The other switch i have on the oven (different number) is measured 0 ohm. So the question is why the ordered switch does not show continuity (0 ohm) ? Is it not supposed to be showing continuity? I have bought another limit switch from another supplier same as yours, sealed in the GE bag and the measurement shows the same no continuity. Please let me know. Thanks

My model upper oven door locked on me. Pulled unit out off the wall>start multimeter checked on thermal switch 158 on model diagram ps236677 “beeps, with continuity”. Multimeter checked on limit switch 159 on model diagram ps236676 “no beep”.When power is on the upper panel makes a whirring sound coming from the door lock motor. was able to unlock door by opening the top and gaining access to the door mechanism after shutting power to unit my model upper oven also stop from baking & broiling. my ohm reading on my upper oven temperature sensor ps236490 is 882 ohms. my lower oven still works. help!!!!!

Hello Jose, thank you for your question. If the limit switch part number ps236676 isn't beeping, or showing continuity that part should be replaced first. This part acts like a safety thermostat on the appliance. Once it reaches a certain temperature it will shut off the heat source to make sure the temperature doesn't go any higher. The sensor should read between 900 Ohms and 1200 Ohms. Because this reading is below the 900 Ohms, I would recommend replacing the sensor as well. If the oven still wont heat after the switch and sensor are replaced the electronic control board will have to be replaced. I hope this helps!

Hi, Just the Upper Oven in this Double Oven do not heat up when turned on (both bake and broil elements do not turn hot/red). I suspecting that it is the the Thermal Cutoff Switch WB24K5216 but I do not have the wiring diagram. Does this switch control BOTH upper and lower ovens from turning on?

Hi Octavian! Am I able to change out temperature sensor thru the inside of the oven? Or do I have to move the whole oven out and get to it thru the back wall? When I removed the two screws and tried to pull the probe out, I couldn't pull to get to the plastic connectors out.
