VALVE BURNER 270 Specifications

This part is the replacement burner valve for your range. It is made mainly of metal and is approximately 3 inches by 1-1/4 inch. In gas ranges, the surface burner valve controls the flow of gas to the surface burner. If your range is not getting enough gas, or if it is difficult or impossible to control the amount of gas that is being supplied, you may need to replace your surface burner valve. Be sure to unplug your range and disconnect the flow of gas before you begin this repair. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer.

I have been canning using the large burner on my GE gas range. I think my husband turned the control knob backwards. At first it was hard to get it to turn normally. But now there is a faint smell of gas around that area. It has been several days now and continue to have a faint smell of gas. Does the burner valve need to be replaced?
