Does this part prevent the fresh food door from opening too far (as would a door stop). It appears that a plastic piece in the top hinge broke off allowing the door to open a full 180 degrees.

Thank you for your question. If the bottom hinge is broken and your door is opening too far, it will need to be replaced. There is also a door stop listed for the fresh food door. The part number listed under your model number for the door stop is PS1766056.
