My freezer light burned out, it unscrews screws easily, I tightened it but it’s still not lighting up. The refrig is 8 years old. Can I get a replacement light? Do I need to turn off the power to the refrigerator when I screw it in?

I have located the correct replacement bulb for the freezer and its location in the exploded view of the parts. My question is how do I access the bulb to replace it.

Hello Dave, thank you for getting in touch. The bulb is located inside the grille at the top where the controls are located. We would recommend removing the drawers and racks of the freezer to access the bulb easily. You may follow these instructions to remove the racks and the drawers to access the bulb. These may not be of exact some models, but may help you with the process:
1) First, lift out the bin.
2) Now use a large flat head screwdriver to depress the retaining tabs securing drawer rail assemblies.
3) Pull the entire drawer assembly. Remove the screws securing the left and right side rack support rails.
4) Now use a flathead screwdriver to depress the retaining tabs to release the left and right gear support brackets.
5) Lift the rails up and remove the rack from the freezer.
Now, you have access to the bulb. Glad to be of assistance!

Shouldn't the LED bulb in the freezer last more than 4 years? Will Whirlpool replace it for free? Home Depot doesn't carry one like it.
