Loud chirpping noise
Unplug the dryer. Remove bottom panel by removing the two retaining nuts. Unplug the motor cable connections. Remove the blower unit. Remove the two screws holding the motor down. Release the belt by slipping it off the tension pulley. Slide the motor out carefully.
I had to replace the idler pulley shaft. The pulley had scored the shaft and was digging into it causing the excessive noise. Reinstall the new shaft and pulley. You will need to remove and re-attach the retaining ring.
I took the opportunity to then blow out the motor unit. It was filled with lint. I then decided to replace the original belt.
You need to unscrew the rear retaining clips and use a putty knife or (I ended up using a small tire tool) to lift and separate the top. I then slide the belt up to the front of the drum. I unscrewed each bolt from the drum and removed the belt at each corner. By doing this it kept the drum aligned with the unit. Then just reverse the process to install the new belt.
Re-install the parts in order of removal. Done. Total repair took about 45 minutes. Would have been quicker except I forgot to re-attach the power clip to the motor and had to remove the unit again.
Noise is gone, dryer runs like a champ, hopefully for another ten years.
I had recently had the low limit thermal fuse replaced for the same problem. About a month later same problem but different fuse. I checked the low limit fuse with an ohm meter and it had continuity. When I checked the High limit fuse it did not, there was infinite resistance meaning it was open and not providing current to the heater elements. Out of concern why the high limit blew, I decided to replace the thermostat as well. As I dissembled the dryer there was an over abundance of lint from years of use. I also notice the drum belt had some chunks missing and decided to replace it since I was removing it anyway. Ordered the parts from Part Select and they arrived in a timely manner as promised. Replaced the defective parts, vacuumed out all the lint and junk that was coating the drive motor and other items. Resembled the dryer and it worked good as new. total cost of $60 in parts, and couple of hours and back in business!

The gas dryer gets very hot, too hot. Also the timer will not advance. I see on your parts listing there is are three thermostats listed. 1-thermostat, 2- a limit thermostat, and 3-boosting thermostat wp61623. Based on my dryers symptoms, which part needs to be changed?

My dryer ignites and then the Flame goes out. We took the bottom door off and tested the radiant Flame sensor and the high limit thermostat and both are working. I am now wondering if the thermostat itself is not right. Also will this stop the advance of the dial in he automatic setting? It gets stuck and won't move from more dry to less dry. Thanks for any help!

Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for your question. If your flame sensor is working I could suggest testing your other thermostat and the thermal fuses inside of your appliance. Because you have two thermostats and two fuses usually. You may also want to test your m series coils and your igniter itself. Even if your igniter is glowing and it seems to be working, it could be that it is not getting to the point that it needs to for the ignition. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
