The broiler would work but the stove would not lite. I saw the igniter getting to a glow on the broiler and lite but the stove it would not so I figured the igniter might be shot.
1st I opened door to stove and removed the wire racks. Then removed lower panel to get to igniter. Then I had to slide stove away from wall. Remove panel on back for accesss to wires. The new part had a plastic connector and the original just used wire nuts for the connection. So I cut off connector and stripped 1/2 inch of the end. Removed wire nuts from old igniter. Back into the oven removed 2 screws pulled out old igniter. Installed new igniter with 2 screws stuck wires through small hole to rear. Back around to back of stove. Connected wires with wire nuts.(I did not see any differnce in wires and dont think it matters) put everything back together and fires that baby up. I am gonna say 15-30 min job

Gas oven would not heat no flame. Broiler heated.
Unplug oven. Remove oven door. Two latches on hinges must be rotated towards the door to release and then remove. Remove two thumb screws that hold drip pan in place and remove from oven. The ignitor is then exposed. Remove the two screws that hold the ignitor onto the burner asymbley. Pull wires/connection plug through hole in back of oven. I used needle nose pliers to guide electrical plug through hole. Disconnect old ignitor and plug in new. Simply pull apart. There is a guide key that will ensure you install plug correctly. Reasymble in reverse order. Hardest part for me was getting the door back one.

Oven would not heat, broiler and Self Clean would
I removed the two rear screws securing the bottom plate inside the oven. The ignitor visually was fine, however the wires internally must have frayed and was not connecting properly. I unscrewed the two screws securing the ignitor, disconnected the plug, then reconnected the new ignitor and things fired up immediately.

oven would work
Replace the igniter. Removed 2 rear screws that secure bottom oven pan. Removed pan. Ignigter is located in center rear by 2 screws. Removed the screws and pulled ignigter out from rear. There us a prong connection that when pressed will release igniter. Don't touch new ignigter without gloves on. Will reduce life. Plugged in new ignigter and secured w 2 screws. Turned on oven to ensure problem was fixed. After 30 seconds, oven ignited. Replaced bottom oven pan. Tadaa!

Igniter failed to light oven
Installing new igniter was very easy. The problem I had was removing the screws. The range is 18 yrs old. The screws were stuck from yrs of use. Especially in the oven cover plate. I used w- d 40 it didn't work. I decided to take a 2" putty knife and push it under the screw head to release it and it worked. They came right out. The igniter screws were also difficult to get out. Once those were removed, I pulled the stove out, turned off the gas and the electrical plug, removed back plate unplugged the old igniter and connected the new one. Easy, peasy. Turned gas on etc. Tested the oven to be sure it worked. Turned oven off. Then put it all back the way it was. Done! The igniter install was simple and qiuck. The time problem was the screws.

My broiler will ignite but the oven will not. I am unsure if i need the horizontal or vertical mount igniter?
For model number MGR5755QDB
PartSelect logo
Hello Jacob, Thank you for your inquiry. The vertical mount ignitor is the oven ignitor that is mounted on the broil burner and controls the heat for the oven, the horizontal ignitor is also known as the bake/broil ignitor and is mounted on the bake ignitor. So if your broiler burner is working, we would recommend checking the horizontal ignitor first. Hope this helps!

Our oven pilot lights but the oven does not heat up. It stays at the 100 degree display
For model number GW399LXUB
PartSelect logo
Hi Linda,Thank you for the question. If the oven lights and turns on but can not reach the set temperature, I suggest testing the Short Oven Sensor Kit, PartSelect Number PS2003225.Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Hope this helps!

Oven ignitor begins glowing, after a minute or more the gas fire starts until it gets to temp. When temp drops about 30 or 40 degrees, the ignitor begins to glow, but gas does not start again until temp has dropped almost 100 degrees several minutes later. Tested the sensor and it ohm'd 1095 (supposed to be 1080 and is probably within range). I will next pull the ignitor and ohm it out. What is ohms rated on good ignitor?
For model number AGR5835QDB
PartSelect logo
Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. The oven ignitor should have a resistance reading of 3.2 to 3.6 ohms. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hi Robert, Thank you for contacting us. I would suggest first testing your oven sensor, to see if that part is working correctly. If it is, test your igniter as well. Both parts can be tested with a multi meter. I hope this helps. Good luck with your repair.

Serial number ry0910076 Jenn-Air when i set it to bake it doesn't ignite, but does on broil. What part do i need?
For model number JGR8875RDS 1
PartSelect logo
Hello Dan, thank you for contacting us. Yes, this would be the correct part for that. The igniter would glow but not ignite the burner as it is not drawing enough power which prevents the gas valve from opening for safety. Hope this helps!
