Blower motor died and I needed to replace it
Most of the repair was obvious as I took the blower apart before ordering the parts. Unfortunately the new motor was significantly larger than the original motor so I had to um. Adjust the position of some of the other parts to fit it in. There was a sheet metal flange that was installed on the other side of the blower from the motor which was designed to focus the air flow into the blower. I used a hammer to ajust the angle of flange so it no longer extended as far into the blower housing.
It works just fine although its a bit louder than the old motor was.
I first had to purchase the replacement motor which was quoted from a high of $236 to a low at graingers of$100. 00. The counterman at graingers removed the blower fan from the motor for me with a special long handled allen key. I then degreased and cleaned the blower fan. I had to cut off the screws on the motor and replace the 3 motor isolators and the urethane foam around the motor. I had to thread the 3 wires from the new motor through the bx cable from the old motor and reattach the fan to the motor. Anyone wanting more detailed informatioin may contact me at:mablume@optonline. Net
Downdraft blower motor noise, fluctuating fan speed and binding. Also replaced indicator light for burner knob.
1. Turned off electrical breaker at electrical service panel. 2. Tested stove top to verify correct breaker was off as well as cook top. 3. Removed front electrical connection panel @ cook top. 4. Disconnected wires to blower fan. (Before disconnection I color coded wires for correct reconnection) 5. Removed the bracket holding the armored cable (protecting motor wires) and removed wires (where connects to electrical connection box). 6. Removed 4 nuts @ blower motor housing and removed blower motor housing and fan. 7. Removed 3 screws that attached the blower fan to the blower motor housing noting or marking the position of the housing to the motor bracket in order to have the same placement position. 8. Pulled the 3 connecting wires from the armored cable protector to separate housing from motor. 9. Removed the fan assembly from the blower motor shaft by using an allen wrench carefully noting the distance from motor face to the fan. 10. Noting/marking the position of the motor mounting bracket connections unscrew the nut and screw that secures the bracket to the motor. 11. Reassemble in reverse order. Note: I taped the motor wires tightly together every 3 or so inches to be able to slide through the armored cable. I also had to rotate the mounting bracket a little to be able to perfectly match the motor housing to the motor bracket.
The new fan motor works great but it's a little bit louder.
removed motor, saw that stablizers were broke and went to a local parts supply shop called SUNDBERG and was given a price of about 49.00 for three stablizers. at that point i went to the internet and found PARTSELECT.COM were i found the same parts for a fraction of the price,17.00, i could not believe it! SUNDBERG customer service was horrible.PARTSELECT custormer service is great and was just over the internet, any how the repair is done no more loud noise and wife is happy again ,for awhile.thanks keep up the good work.i tell everybody about you guys.

The exhaust fan recently started making some loud screeching noises. I thought maybe the fan blades of the blower wheel might be hitting the edges of the metal frame. However, the wheel spins freely by hand and no noises from the motor like it's having any problems. The noise only occurs upon turning the power on for the fan to reach high speed. I was reading some things here saying people had problems with the motor isolater. Would a broken one cause this kind of noise? Or do you have another suggestion? Any help would be appreciated. This is an older unit and the SN# tag is behind the blower exhaust body. All I could read in the upper right corner was 39 (printed) then 22162 (stamped in the tag).
For model number C301
Hello Wynn, thank you for your inquiry. Based on the description that you have provided, the issue is most probably with the motor isolator, part number PS11743903. It reduces motor vibration noises. We would recommend replacing it to fix the issue. We hope this solves your problem!
