Coils frozen in refrigerator
Cooling coils froze up. Removed back panel in freezer section. After thawing coils, manually advanced defrost timer to check if fan stopped and defrost (heat) strips energized. Fan did stop, but heating strips did not energize to thaw coils. Used electrical meter to determine circuit was open at defrost thermostat. Ordered replacement and installed in about 20 minutes. No issues so far.

Is 1setting colder than 7

Dial ranges from 1-7, 1 being the coldest setting, and 7 being the warmest. Usually, it is a good idea to have control around number 3 or 4. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

The freezer is too warm to keep ice cream solid. The timer cycles on approximately every 8 hrs. and remains on for approximately 20 minutes. The mechanical thermometer in the freezer is in freezing range. The refrigerator runs continuously between defrost cycles. The condenser coils are clean.

Hello - my fridge seems to work fine but the freezer seems to constantly be cycling. I have a thermometer mounted inside and it goes from optimal frozen temperature to warming to a freezing temperature and then back to an optimal frozen temperature. To me it seems like it’s kicking in and out with a pretty wide freezer temperature range. Bought the fridge used for my garage but if you have a suggestion on the fix I’m willing to try. From what I’ve read I think it may be the clip on defrost thermostat causing it to cycle part# PS11743221?
