Leaking water
Well, I found the washer leaking water from the bottom a couple weeks ago. I finally got around to pulling off the front panel and ran a couple cycles to see where the water was coming from. Turns out the leak was at the plastic pump that does the draining after wash and rinse.
So I got the model number and googled online. I found Partselect and they had every part I needed. Took me 10 minutes online to find the parts for my specific washer. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Parts came in two days...and this was right before Xmas.
Anyways, changing out the pump was simple. Took 5 minutes to get it off and put the new one in. I decided to change the hoses and elbow siphon break as well while I had the thing apart as those parts were old...but still working well.
Got the washer back together and the floor is dry as a bone. Perfect repair, really easy to do. Hardest part was figuring out how to get the front panel off.
Water was not being removed from the wash tub after the spin cycle
I loosened three screws to relieve the belt tension and removed the belt from the pump drive pulley. After removing the water from the wash tub I removed the intake and output hoses from the pump. I next removed the mounting screws and removed the pump. I attached the new pump loosely and re-attached the belt. I moved the pump to tighten the belt tension and tightened the mounting screws. I re-attached the hoses, filled with water, checked for leaks and replaced the front panel.

Strange noises - drum not always emptying
Found a very stretched, loose pump belt. Was able to pull it off pump pulley and motor pulley easily. Pushed motor assembly toward transmission pulley and removed wider drive belt. Wiped all pulleys clean. There's a double on the motor- one for drive belt, one for pump belt. Removed two hoses from pump using nutdriver. Removed pump. New pump installed. Installed two hoses on new pump. Installed drive new drive belt. Installed pump belt last. Slid pump to near farthest spot in slots. Tested for correct tension by pinching pump belt. Should be able to pinch center so two pump belt sides come within 1/4" of each other just as the spring tensioned motor mount starts to move. Pused washer back into place after external hoses connected. All new hose washers and filters on both hot and cold. Ran, checked for leaks - none! Absolutely perfect. Put front panel back on. No weird noises and drum empties perfectly every time. My wife is so pleased she's doing more loads.
I was told that it might be a clog in the tube.. we check the tubes that wasn't it Then I Google it and was told it might be the drain pump. I was just glad that Part Select had what I need because my machine is over 20 years old. We change the pump and now I hope I get at least another 20 years out of my machine. I will always use part select to get my parts. Thanks

Water leak
Tilted the washing machine back at 45 degree angle. Removed three screws from the underside of machine. Slipped belt off pump. Lessened two hose clamps and removed hoses. Lifted old pump out. Dropped new pump in place. Screwed in the 3 screws. Slipped on the belt. Attached two hoses. Tightened hose clamps. Set washing machine upright.
No more leak. My problem was I could not prove the pump was the source, but after switching it out I have had no problems (good enough).

The pump starting leaking around the center portion.
The hardest part was figuring out how to get the front panel off of the washer. Once that was done, the pump came off easy.... 3 screws attached it to the bottom panel and 2 hose had to be disconnected. Putting the new one in was easy.

Washer did not drain.
Took front panel off. Ran machine. Pump is see-through. Could not see any "aeration" of the water in the pump and no water was coming out of drain hose. Disconnected electric. Disconnected hose from drum to pump(first emptied ALL water from drom)and drained in bucket. Disconnected drain hose from pump to drain and drained any water. Checked for obstructions in hoses. Removed pump. Checked belt (was fine after 14 years). Ordered new pump. Received the next day! Replaced pump and tighten belt. Connected hoses and test it. All OK. Replace panel and did laundry.

Standing water in washer tub
Thinking the water pump was not doing its job in removing all of the water after the rinse cycle, I replaced the water pump.
1. Unplug washing machine. 2. Remove front cover (2 screws). 3. Pull belt and hoses off pump body (watch for water in drain hose!). 4. Remove 3 screws holding pump to bottom pan. 5. Reverse process with new pump.
This job is straighforward, and it helps to have 2 wood blocks to prop up the front of the washer.
Unfortunately, this didn't fix my problem. Actual cause of the water in the tub was a leaking inlet valve (solenoid assy).

The old pump was beginning to drag due to the age of the washer.
Removed the front panel. Then blocked up the front of the machine. Removed the pump belt. Removed the 3 5/16" screws from the bottom of the old one and tilted it slightly to remove. Put the new one in and reinstalled the 3 screws. Put the belt back on and slid new pump all the way to the right and tightened 1 screw. Loosened the screw until there was about 1/4" of gap when squeezed the belt together. Tightened the one screw, then the other 2. Put the front panel back on and lowered the machine. New pump works great.

Water was leaking from under the front of the washer when it was used.
After turning the water off and unplugging the machine, I took the front panel off the washing machine. I then slipped the belt off the pump sprocket. The pump was right in the front and easy to remove. All I needed was a screwdriver, for the hose clamps, and a 5/16" socket to remove the old pump. I then installed the new pump, with the existing screws, re-attached the 2 hoses, slipped the belt back on, and popped the front panel back into place. The new pump works great and the leak is gone. The whole job onlt took about 30 minutes.

The pump pulley came off the washer. Is this a factory mounted pulley attached to the pump permanently or is it attached by a bolt? Can i just bolt it back on or would i have to replace the entire pump assembly? Thank you.

When the belt is disconnected will the water pump turn freely or with some resistance?

Does the pump in this model wash machine control the water staying in the tub as its filling? Is there any chance that the drain could siphon the water out of the tub as its filling, or is there a check valve to hold water in the tub?

Hi Milton,
Thank you for the question. I would start by making sure you do not have a siphoning issue.
First check to make sure the drain house is not pushed into the home drain. Then check to make sure the home drain is not plugged or blocked. Some people stuff a rag or paper towel around the gap between the hose and the drain hole thinking it will make the hose fit into the home drain more secure. There needs to be air flow between the drain hose and the outside diameter of the drain hole.
It is also a good idea to check the Siphon Break Kit and the Siphon Break Elbow Kit with Clamp. Make sure they are not cracked or damaged or nothing could be blocking them.

Hello Ross, Thank you for contacting us. Please submit a follow up including the serial number of the unit so we can determine the age. If unplugging the unit and plugging it back in after 1-2 minutes does not force the water to drain, try to move the timers into the spin cycle so it can drain. If that fails then you would have to manually empty the water. Hope this helps!

Clothes are still extremely wet after spinning. I have replaced belts, spring kit. If i pull the motor towards the front of the machine, (you can hear and see it spinning faster), during spinning it spins out the water fine, so do not think its the drain pump. Any help will be very appreciated

Hello Terry, thank you for your question. There is a speed control switch on the control panel that might be stuck, or not functioning. I would recommend checking that part first, and if that part is functioning properly you might want to check and/or replace the motor, and drain pump. I hope this helps!

Washer leaks water while spinning/draining and even when.letting clothes sit in the soak cycle and lifting the lid for awhile. Starting to get loud as if a bearing is failing as washer spins to drain. I haven’t been able to pull the washer out and look closer but I suspect the drain pump could be an issue along with the main tank seal/bearing. Any suggestions on anything else to look at or replace?
