Dryer blew cold air.
PartSelect is great for providing parts as requested. Unfortunately, neither of the 2 parts I ordered were on my machine. My bad for not looking at the actual part instead of the description. A word to the wise!
It was taking alomost twice as long for a load of clothes to dry.
First I had to take the back cover off. I removed the heating element and the thermostat and replaced them with the new repairs. It was relatively simple---any handiman could do it and would not require a repairman. We talked to a salesman at Sears to see what they thought the problem could be and then got on the internet. The best part was that the repairs came within a few days of placing my order. That was super!!! Thank you for your fast response.
Measured resistance on thermostats & heating element. Found thermostat open so ordered replacement part and heat again.

no heat
Frist I looked on Parts Select site at there diagrams to figure out where the heating element was . After that it was easy to remove the back panel and expose the heating element box.The screw holding the element is a little hard to get too , but still easy to remove.You have to pull the box out a little to slide the element out. the only thing I did wrong was not buy both thermostates at the same time,and I had to spend a little more because the one part is not sold by itself. Over all a breeze

I ordered the parts before 10:00am and received the parts the next day with the regular shipping.Very good website others need to benchmark you. I will use your service for future repairs and refer you to others.
Removed the back of the dryer about 8 screws. Removed the Thermostat 250 F and replaced with new. Dries a load of clothes in one cycle on medium. Not bad for a 16 dollar part. I am a computer tech and I am used to taking computers a part but I think most people that are in anyway mechanically inclined and can look at a diagram could do this and save yourself a lot of money.

Dryer not producing any heat
Removed rear panel after disconnecting the Power.Disconnected the fuse ,thermostat 250f, and replaced them. Then removed the old heater and installaled the new one. Then plugged in the heater and still no heat..So I have decided to replace cycling thermostat and temperature switch,which I ordered yesterday. These are the last two items that you suggest as being a cause.
Opened access door, noticed main power wire to heating element was partially melted. This was caused by a bad connection to the drying element, loose. Removed heating element assembly. Cut bad section of wire and added new connection. While doing this the thermostats plastic casing cap came off ! Probably due to exessive heat / resistance from the bad connection. This confirmed why there was no heat. Intalled new thermostat and and am now good to go !

dryer will not,dry clothes,but drum run
Took, back cover out,but first i disconect the electricity,i give a fast look,looking for anything wrong and i saw a thermostar burn out in the element case,the bottom one,a thermostart 250 f. but a did a search in the internet,and found that when a bottom thermostart burn out, the top one had to be change,so i did a continuity text in the top one and was open ,i have it,a used one, change and connect the dryer to the Electrical outlet and (walac)it start the dryer,problem solve
I am really not sure because my husband did the repair and it took him no time at all. I know he removed the back panel on the dryer, and the 2 parts were in plain site. He took the old off put on the new part. We turned the dryer on and it worked better than ever! This site is the best for home repairs. My husband was a little leary but we didn't want to buy a new dryer and we live in a remote area with no repair people, so for the low cost of these parts it was well worth it! Will diffently use this site again!!!!!!!!!!

High temperature cut off thermostat from a Kenmore dryer. I measure 30 ohms across the terminals. Has it failed? The dryer doesn't seem to heat at all.

Hello John, thank you for your question. At room temperature, testing the thermostat should produce a reading of zero. If the reading is something else the thermostat is bad and would need to be replaced. If the appliance is running, but not heating at all (blowing cold air), it is most likely a thermostat issue, or fuse issue. I replaced the heating element, the thermal fuse and the high temperature thermostat and still have no heat. Does it matter which prong the red and white stripped go on the heating element and thermostat? Right now the striped one is on the bottom prong on the thermostat and on the prong closest to the drum on the element. Is that right?

Hello Robert, Thank you for your inquiry. The red and white wire goes on the bottom and the solid red one should be on the top. The other parts to check would be the thermal cut off kit, the internal bias thermostat/cycling thermostat, the terminal and wire kit, the electrode/sensor, and the blower wheel. Also make sure the ducts are clear and your dryer has plenty of space in back to suck in air. Hope this helps!

My Whirlpool electric dryer seems to be overheating. I have replaced the thermal switch 3977394. it was open instead of n/c.
the other sensors measure a short or show continuity. i believe this is correct.
the dryer still seems to be getting too hot.
I have a laser thermometer. are there some readings i could measure?
how hot should a electric dryer get internally and the exhaust?

Hi Bob, The single most common reason why clothes dryer overheat is restricted airflow. When there's a blockage in the internal duct work, the hot air will become trapped inside the drum where it creates potential fire hazard. I am not sure of what is too hot, but on average a dryer should get 140-155°F on high , so too much higher would be an issue.
