Start relay and overload for production compressor only. The start relay boosts the compressor, and then shuts off as soon as the motor gets up to speed. The overlay provides added protection against excessive current and against excessive temperature use.

loss of cold air and subsequent meltdown of contents
Shut of both freezer and refer section, as well as unplug unit. Remove h2o line to bottom of frig that supplies ice maker. Remove back panel and set aside. Remove green, red and white wires from relay and start device. Be sure to mark which goes where, it may seem simple, but 3-5 days later when the parts arrive, things may look different. Install the two replacement parts in the reverse order by which you removed them. Remember, white tabs are down and touch back of lower part when installed. Install panel and hto line, check for leaks, plug in and turn refer on.

Hi. I found the relay for my fridge but i am worry because the original is 115volt and the universal is only 110volt
For model number ET8CHMXKQ05
Hi Carmen, thank you for your question. We actually only sell OEM parts here, not universal parts. This part is the correct part for the model number that you provided according to your manufacturer directly, so you should have no issues with the part there. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hello, i bought the overload for my fridge and the one i received does not have a start capacitor. I had this worked on a few years back by a repairman and i believe he retrofited the start relay? Question: Will the factory replacement work without a capacitor? And if so, how do the two wired with the slide on ends connect to the factory replacements? I am an electrician, so i understand the lingo if that helps. I really appreciate your help!
For model number ET8CHMXKQ05
Hi Marty,
Thank you for your question. This start-device combination is listed under your model number and is designed to work on your refrigerator. We are showing a capacitor listed with the compressor on your refrigerator. Where the refrigerator was retrofitted, you will need to contact Whirlpool for information on how to install the parts. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.
