Door closure mechanism. What part hold the closure onto the door? It looks like it may be a rod or bar from what I can see on one door that already has a mechanism.
For model number PFS22SISBSS
Hi Kim,
Thank you for your question. The bar you are referring to is sometimes called the mullion. This bar goes on the inside of each door and connects int he middle when the doors are closed. This bar is only sold with the door gaskets as they manufactured to be part of the gaskets.
Hope this helps!
1) What could be the likely reasons why the refrigerator does not hold its cold temperature set by thermostat. Note: It is not the controller, because that was just replaced, and that did not help it. 2) door gasket kit: Is it easy to replace the door gasket kit myself? 3) Should I buy the top latch part if replacing door gasket kit, and b) Should I replace both right and left closure mechanisms while I'm at it?

Hello Kim,
Thank you for your questions. There are many parts that could cause your refrigerator to not stay cold. I would suggest checking all of your temperature sensors. Check your hi limit thermostat (Thermodisc). You may also want to check to see if the run capacitor and the start relay are also working on your compressor as well. You have two electronic boards in your appliance. The display board that is inside of your refrigerator section and an electronic control board that is down by your compressor area. Either one of these boards can also cause your refrigerator to not stay at the right temperature as well. There are three different ways that a gasket can be installed. Yours are installed by pressing them into a groove around your door. If you would like to replace your latches and closure mechanisms you can. Unless you can visibly see that they are worn or broken, I would not say that you would have to replace them. I hope this helps. Good luck with your repair.
What part/mechanism keeps the door closed on my GE bottom freezer refrigerator? Neither door stays closed when the other is shut.
For model number PFS22SISBSS
Hi Mike,
Thank you for the question. On both doors there is a strip that goes up the inside edge of the door. It will be attached to the gasket around the door that creates the seal. There are tabs at the top of the strip that hold the doors closed. Unfortunately GE does not sell just these tabs on their own, you will need to replace the gaskets. Door Gasket Kit - Black - Left & Right Side, PartSelect Number PS1019193.
Hope this helps!
What holds the freezer closed? Is there an adjustment to keep the freezer door even with the front of the refrigerator?
For model number PFS22SISBSS
Hello Dion, thank you for contacting us. The fridge would need to be level and the gasket would need to be in good condition to keep a strong seal. Make sure the rails allow it to slide smoothly. Hope this helps!

One door does not stay closed. The piece at the top of the door is missing. Is this what grabs the mullion to keep the door tight?
