Hi Richard, Thank you for your question. The red light will usually stay on until the freezer falls below 19 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature in the refrigerator is already set to the correct temperature, press the TEMP SETTING button once on the control panel to turn it off. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.

My coils are freezing up and I was thinking it may be the defrost timer or heater but I can't locate it. Can you help? Thanks
For model number WZF79R20DW00

Hello Craig, thank you for the question. If the coils are frozen, you may need to check the defrost heater, part number PS11752658, to fix the issue. It is located near the evaporator coils. Defrost time is controlled by the control board. We hope this helps!

Temperature setting. I set to one light on. After a while go back and all three lights on and temp in freezer is down to -20 or -30. Don't need this cold. Why are all three lights coming on after I set to only first light on?

Hello Galen, thank you for reaching out. You may need to check the temperature sensor. If it is not faulty, then you may need to replace the electronic control board, part number PS12728625. We hope this solves your problem!

The Freezer alarm sounds when the compressor shuts off.
For model number WZF79R20DW00
PartSelect logo
Hi Daniel, Thank you for your question. If the freezer alarm sounds when the compressor shuts off, try unplugging the freezer and plugging it back in to see if resetting it will help. If not, you may have a malfunctioning start device on the compressor. If the start device is defective it will rattle. Unplug the refrigerator before removing the start device from the compressor. Then unplug the start relay from the compressor and shake it. If it rattles, you will need to replace it. If the start device is fine, there may issue in the sealed system, with the defrost system, with the evaporator fan motor or with the electronic control board. If the condenser coils are dirty, they will need to be cleaned as this can prevent the refrigerator from working correctly. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Wanted to install ice maker in my freezer
I was clening my uprght freezer and noticed that it was preped for an icemaker. I first went to the Whilpool website and could not find my part as my freezer was a 2008 model.

I saw PartSelect on the search page and went to thier site.
I put in my modle number of the Whilpool Ice maker kit that was on the back of my freezer. PartSelect had the part in stock and approx $18.00 less than the other kits listed on the Whilpool site (that did not match my kit number). I orderd the kit on Sunday and it arrived on Wednesday. It took less than and hour to install. Every part I needed was included. The following day I installed the water line and now I have an extra icemaker.

Scratches in Surface
This product comes in a bottle with a brush like Liquid Paper. It goes on incredibly easy. A second coat might be needed. I wanted to prevent rust from setting in so I covered the scratches and dings. The paint is a little brighter since my washer is 10 years old but it still looks great.
