Wee have a Whirlpool cabrio platinum washer and about 1.5 years ago started getting codes like SD, LF, found out it was the basket hub so got replacements and changed easy from this site. However, this part seems to go out every couple of weeks now and we are always replacing. The teeth on the part seem to wear off so fast and we don't know why it just keeps going bad. It also will only run on perm press cycle, if I try to wash anything on any other cycle, I get an error code of LF. Is there another part that we need to replace so that this basket hub doesn't keep going out? I keep 3 on hand at all times now bc it goes out so much. ser number is C34370589 and mod is wyw8900bc0

Hello Maurin, thank you for contacting us. Based on our research, if LF (too long to fill) error codes appear in the display, the washer is taking too long to fill. We would recommend checking the water inlet valve, part number PS11731257, to fix the issue. Before replacing the water inlet valve, you may need to check that the hoses are not clogged and the pressure of the water is as desired. We hope this solves your problem!

What does Ld mean?
For model number WTW8900BC0
PartSelect logo
Hi Penny, thank you for reaching out. The Ld error code is a short form for a long drain. It usually indicates that the washer is taking too long to drain. We would suggest checking the plumbing for the correct drain hose installation. Use drain hose form and attach securely to drainpipe or tub. Do not tape over the drain opening. Lower the drain hose if the end is higher than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor. Remove any clogs from the drain hose. If the washer still does not drain properly, the drain pump, part number PS11754363, might be faulty. We hope this information helps!

The washer was making a horrible noise during the spin cycle
Removed a cap in the center of the tub basket which has a bolt that needs removed I believe it's a 9/16 after I removed the bolt I then removed the center of the bottom of the basket assembly which then allowed me to get to the basket hub that needed replaced it was a little dirty and I couldn't get it out so I sprayed a little penitrating oil on it let it sit a little then I was able to remove the hub and install the new one then I put it all back together and the washer is working great

Scratches in Surface
This product comes in a bottle with a brush like Liquid Paper. It goes on incredibly easy. A second coat might be needed. I wanted to prevent rust from setting in so I covered the scratches and dings. The paint is a little brighter since my washer is 10 years old but it still looks great.
